I looked at the other sager laptops as welll as other compal laptops. Even though most people say that the IFL90 is a great improvement over the HEL80, how come it has no media controls? Even the HEL80 had hot keys and media controls next to the keyboard. Most sager laptops also have some sort of media controls integrated next to the keyboard.

Now why did Compal decide to abandon media controls and then on top of that reverse the ctrl and fn keys? Makes no sense to me

It's just not intended to be a media station.

There's no DVI-out or HDMI port either and no remote. I don't believe it has an optical out either does it?

He's probably talking about the play/pause, fast forward, rewind buttons, volume control

Those keys on the HEL80 aren't that great anyway. They're hard to use cause 4 buttons do 8 things. You have to hit one side of the button for one funciton and the other for another function. It gets annoying when u hit the wrong side by mistake.

I rarely use them. FN key + the F# keys are better.

The FN and ctrl keys won't be a big deal. It's the same for the HEL80. You'll get use to it pretty fast.

yeah, and fn+Fx works great in Linux so probably in window$ too :) so why bother. It's not like it has a instant-on media player solution. (did the HEL80 have one? I doubt it ;))

I seem to remember instructions on how to turn on your cmoputer just in "media mode" withouth booting the OS. But you needed Win installed and certain software.
