Voodoo announces the ENVY M:152 notebook:
Prices start at $3,310 USD!

I have to chuckle at the fact that this laptop is pretty much an IFL-90 with the Voodoo badge. When I configured the notebook to roughly what my laptop is (specified by my sig), it costs $3438, a full $2000 more than what I paid for for my laptop!

I suppose Voodoo's business model preys upon a demographic of relatively unknowledegable people with deep pockets. Sure, they won't sell as many laptops as a Dell, but selling one or two laptops under the extortionist Voodoo name would yield as much profits as 10-20 consumer laptops.

I guess I can say that my laptop is equivalent to a Voodoo laptop, in build and performance.

Kudos to this forum and the numerous resellers and ODMs for helping me to see the light in realizing how much of a sham a lot of these boutique brands pull off on their customers. ;)

I've got to agree with you there. Paying that much for that laptop is completely ludcrious. I spelled that wrong I think.

Anyways, even with a paint a job like that, you could still get the whole system elsewhere for cheaper. Insanity.

    ludicrous :)

this is an insane but great example of the way some "high end" brands make a buck or two off of you. They even charge you $136 for shipping in North America. Too much? You can go pick it up for free.... if you live in the Calgary, Alberta area....

the only this this model has a step up from mine is probably the paint job. They do have pretty sick paint jobs...

Well at least the keyboard may come installed ok. That's the only difference i see between my fl90 and this voodoo one.

I'd buy that voodoo if it was blue and was $2000 cheaper.

I'll tell ya what I don't envy, the poor soul who'd pay that much when, like you said, the compal IFL90 will save you 2k for about the same laptop. Heck you could buy an IFL 90 and one of the new iMac's and still have over $500 leftover!

Yea i realized the same thing, when i went to digital life today!
I was in shock how much they hike up the price... and to say the least its not even maxed out.
Even if a Compal IFL90/ Sager NP2090 were maxed out, it'd still cost about 1k less!
