Is there ant good reason why Windows 2000 shouldn't work on the 3415w? Or any other recent laptop? I don't need support for all like fancy pancy stuff like the webcam and fingerprint reader.

You'll probably all ask why i want to do that, and it's quite simple: I already own a license, i'm used to the GUI and the only reason i need to run Windows on it is to do DirectX stuff like playing Oblivion at work.

Once thing you will need a driver for is the SATA controller so that the hard disk will work. Not sure if there is one for Windows 2000. Since you want to game you will also need a graphics card driver but i think the XP drivers will work for 2000 also.

Theres a INF update for the Centrino Duo Processor Technology (why not just use the chipsset name instead?) on Intels site. It must be it. Anyway, i might as well just try it out. Gonna buy the laptop anyway. Without Vista. A second hand XP license can't be that expensive.

On the danish website it says "This model does not support windows XP"...
Any idea why? Is there a work-around?

It sounds better than "We are too lazy to find and host the drivers for you, do it yourself"

Actually the reason for the label "no XP support" has nothing to do with us being lazy. We have some of the drivers for the machine for XP but lots of them are beta and we do not want to release a machine with beta drivers which can cause a lot of problems for both us and the customers.

It also states that if there is released fully working drivers for XP, these will be put online.

I can answer this so clearly because I'm the one responsible for the FTP and I'm in close contact with our production part of Zepto and the manufacuters about the machines about these things.

Also I'm on vacation this week so there probably won't happen much on the FTP until sometime next week. :)
