I have two 2370's that I am trying to get Win7 64 to work with and it seems these problems have been discussed before but when I try to track down the solution, I never seem to get to the destination the links relate to.
One 2370 has the Averatec BIOS and the other has an EVEREX BIOS. Both are from www.AMI.com but the EVEREX is a later version R1.09 07/06/07. The EVEREX BIOS unit has a 100GB HDD and arrived with Win7 64 Ultimate already installed. The Averatec BIOS unit arrived with no HDD and I did a new install of Win7 64 Ultimate.
The problems are:
EVEREX BIOS unit:
1. Device Manager shows 'Other devices' 'Mass Storage Controller' '!' and I can not get this to go away. I have tried updating the driver, removing the entry and let it get redetected and no help. Windows Update was of no help.
Averatec BIOS unit:
1. Same as number 1 above.
2. Device Manager shows 'Other devices' 'Coprocessor' '!' with the same effort and outcome as number 1 above.
3. System shows processor at 803 MHz instead of 1.60 GHz as shown on the EVEREX unit and my other 2300's with WinXP Media Center installed.
When I install an old HDD with WinXP Media Center installed, there are no issues with the Averatec BIOS unit. I have not tried this with the EVEREX BIOS unit.
I gather that some of this can be resolved by reflashing the Averatec BIOS with the EVEREX BIOS. My question is 'EXACTLY' how do I do this?
I also understand that some of this is resolvable by modifying a .inf file for the nVIDIA drivers and downloading a new nVIDIA driver. 'EXACTLY' how do I do that?
I would like to make a CD of the Averatec BIOS and the EVEREX BIOS as a backup/archive then proceed with whatever needs to be done in whatever sequence is appropriate. If I get totally frustrated, I can always go back to the Averatec BIOS and WinXP Media Center for both.
So, how do I 'read' the BIOS and get on a CD or Flash Drive, how do I make a 'bootable' CD or Flash Drive, and how do I install the BIOS? How do I modify a driver file?
I am a total newbie at major computer software manipulation but, with these two units, I am willing to give it a try.
I am much more comfortable with the hardware side, having had these units completely apart and replacing the AC jack along with removing several pounds of dust and lint, installing 2 GB or RAM, a new HDD, a new WiFi card, and DVD.
Thanks in advance for any help.
