Just wondering which version of Windows Vista Zepto ships with the laptops, 32-Bit or 64-Bit?

So if I want to get the x64 version I have to buy it, or is there a free upgrade?

It is the OEM version of Windows so there is no free upgrade. You will have to buy the 64bit version.
Maybe you can try calling/emailing Zepto if they can give you a 64bit version.

    Thanks for the quick replies.

I wonder why there is no choice for a 32-Bit or 64-Bit OEM, is it because of MS?

Why do Zepto ship the 32bit version?

What are the possible advantages of 32bit over 64bit? Cost? Compatibility?

I always assumed 64bit was better or was I just taken in by the "bigger number means better product" thing?

Nah, 64-Bit should be superior because you can have much more RAM support (makes it better for future upgrade). The only bad thing is that it's taking time to migrate over to 64-Bit, the only negative side is that the drivers are not as developed. Eventually everything will move to 64-Bit, so it would be nice to know that my laptop is future-proof, well in most aspects.

64bit Vista doesnt cost anymore then 32bit. For 99% of the users 32bit is better then 64bit. Not all programs are 64bit compatible. 64bit is also more restrictive with drivers and many multimedia devices like webcams and card readers have no 64bit drivers (and might never have them).

The only use for 64bit is if you want more then 3.25GB of ram and your notebook only suports 4GB max anyway. Or if you use programs like Mathlab, CAD/CED programs that I think run a few % faster in 64bit.

Wouldn't it technically be better to move to 64-Bit? I mean if companies like nVidia saw that all new Windows Vista were 64-Bit only then they would work only on WV x64 drivers. Anyway MS said Server 2008 was going to be their last 32-Bit OS.

yes MS should have just migrated over to 64bit fully for vista and got all pain and trouble over in one go...
