Hello, I'm thinking about re-installing my OS. I was wondering which OS is more compatible with Games. I currently use Windows XP PRO SP2. Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. :)

XP and Vista are compatible with all games if we are talking about new games. Older ones might not work on Vista.
Performance is the issue we should be talking, which is better on XP. Then again there is no DX10, so Vista maybe has a little bit nicer look but and that leads to lower FPS.
    It's up to you now.

Then again 8600/9600m can't give any playable fps on DX10 games, but I use vista though, it's actually operates faster because of some tweaks helping to use fast hardware lots of RAM more efficiently then XP when talking about common tasks.

Well I doo everything on my laptop, except gaming, that I live for a serious gaming hardware. ;) And some new games acualy run on vista faster, COD4 for example.
By the way, here's a good comparison, it's in russain, but I think you'll do in reading the charts just fine. :)

WOW, that guy did some serious testing. I never saw benchmarking that through. Thanks for that link. What I can see from ther is that variations are fromgame to game, in some being Vista and in some XP better. In his conclusion he does say that with SP1 Vista is mature now, but generally still bit behind XP I think. Win7 gives us hope.

Other thing. What can I say, the nature of my job forces me to have a laptop, for gaming because I like games, and focres me to have a not an expensive one. Even more so that even if I want a good and powerful laptop, I would have to order it online, which would then be in the end like three Compals. So I have what I have and I try to squeeze what I can from that. I wrote that based on my own tests that are not even close to those that he did, but still...

Just go XP unless you play anything that requires vista. Halo 2 does, but you can fix that with a few google searches.
