    Does anyone here play World of Warcraft on 6224W? I've ordered mine last week and should arrive this week. That'll be probably the only game I'll ever play on my laptop (well, at least until StarCraft II comes out). I was just wondering what sort of performance I could expect with everything set to max? I know 8600gt is quite a powerful GPU but still I am very curious :)

    Thanks :cool:

    I used to play it on my 6014. (Older version without Nvidea graphics) and used to play with a decent frame rate all the time

    I run it with all on high at 1360x768 (could proberly do 1440x900 aswell, but like the extra little fps). Ofcause no AA and multisampling 1x but else all on max.

    I run it on 1440x900 with full everything. No AA or Multisampling.

    You will have no problems :) At time of writing the best drivers are these : 169.28 from www.laptopvideo2go.com (on the forums)

    @dodge

    You dont get the very stuttering and fps dodgy gameplay when you go below 45fps? i know we shouldnt, because anything above 35 is rather fine, but lots of people are having huge problems with this, specially with outlands.

    Anyway, just like to know if you get it too :) since you (except for ram) got the same comp as i do.

    p.s. Its a know thing on the wow forums aswell, and the blame is on the 2.0.3 patch so far.

    Hmmm.... If you have aero enabled and in windows mode you do get stuttering. I will play a bit more on the laptop when I fly around get motes from clouds ^^

    I won't be using Vista on my laptop, so hopefully it should help. I'll be putting WinXP Pro only for WoW and use it mainly with Ubuntu. If I can make WoW run on Linux, I will get rid of Windows completely :)

    Why not run Vista? It's great and only becoming better as time passes. ;)

    DX10 will be hardly any use to me for a very long time as I won't be playing any games other the WoW. I know some people are very happy with their vista but again the number of complaints/bad reviews etc are much higher than the positive ones. It is simply not as mature as XP (yet) and as you said it'll only get better with updates in time.

    Other than gaming, battery life and performance is no where near good as XP. Besides, using Brico pack or Rocket Dock and similar packages, you can have almost the same or even better UI than Vista on XP and Linux. I already have a copy of XP anyway, no need to spend money on a new OS.

    But the thing I can't wait to try is Ubuntu, it'll look so gorgeous on my laptop :D I'll write a step by step guide for installing, optimising, customising, etc the OS and post it here as a little guide.
