I have a Averatec 3200, but have had this problem on a number of laptops.
I have no battery software, the batteries are showing as unknown device in the device manager and wont update the drivers.
I've installed all the drivers from the website, including the AMD processor one.
    Still nothing.
Cant get power options, battery life and my laptop just runs out of batt without warning me.
    Please can anybody help!

    regards,

errrmmm the only way i can think of is reinstalling windows and select that you are on a laptop... if you reinstall it u shouldn't loose any programs... during installation u should get a drop down menu that asks what you are installing windows on just select laptop and it should work fine :)

I have never seen an option to install on a laptop & I've done 1000's!
    Where is that exactly?
Also, I dont really want to have to set this up again if it can be helped, only just got it right.
Is there any way around this?
    thanx

    sorted!
OK, I gave up and reinstalled the O/S. I used a different version of XP. My old one must have had stuff missing as the battery stuff is all there now.
