lol, man nice scores. really u are destroying my 8426.![]()
but anyway, nice to see that you got the thing running up and good. have u heard about the special cooler for the whitebook? its gonna cost like $200-$300 but it is specially designed for only the OCZ and can reduce temps drastically. I am sure that you can hit 4.0ghz stable with the right balance of multiplier and fsb. too bad you dont have the 1333mhz RAM for more room to overclock.
-
Eh, Ive got PC8500, but it allows me to push 1266 clocks.. 633x2 is the max @ 8-8-8-24 timings. Otherwise, Im runnin @ 7-7-7-20, I believe. CL7 RAM. That's the RAM, not me changing timings. And no, havent heard bout the cooler..but, would be interested.
-
Oh ok. whats the max stable cpu oc u can get?
and ask mhooper about the cooler. -
i seen that cooler. they have it in blue and black, but are prototypes.

i want one!!!!! but with 4 fans across the bottom and 2 to 4 across the back. -
Oh dag! I want 2! I can have one cool the other, while it cools my rig. And they show the OCZ as their demo model. NICE! Must be a match made in tech-nerd-heaven. Now, that's a reason not to drill holes in my rig, john.
-
now you see how my fan theory comes into play against this?...lol
-
Yea yea.. goin to Walmart to buy a drimmel..bbiab.
And Dude, I've pushed it to 3.56GHz as in my sig. Stable? Well, it runs 3dmark06..and that's all I ran. Temps were a bit HOT for my personal taste, and there's a huge difference between stable and benchmarking. -
what does a single 3870 get in 3dmark06?
-
I haven't ran it myself..but another forum posted a score of lower 9k's.. Lemme run it for ya
-
Well.. I was right on the money. This is running single ATI, with no OC on it or the CPU. So, x9100 @ 3.06 GHz and single HD3870. My 9800m GTS outperformed this card @ the same settings. I made a point of telling folks at GoG that a while back. And, I haven't looked for it..but I'd be very interested in finding out how the 9800m GTS SLI performs. Anyhow, here's the stock run w/ single card.
-
Just 9138 when paired with an x9100? Dang that's pretty weak.
-
So what are the temps stock / OCed?
-
For single GPU? Depends...how OC'd would you like to see it?
-
-
yes lew...but dual ati's are hitting 15 and now 16.7k 3dmark.....
-
These cards are meant to be over clocked. So going of an unclocked CPU and GPU is like running a trubo car with the PSI meter a 0....
-
how much does the gtx sli setup scores?
can one assume a single 4870 will beat 3870x2 setup ?
from desktop setups it sure looks like it will, anyway i am waiting till my notebook will feel sluggish and i don't see this happening anytime soon. -
hooper... you have to look at all sides of the picture...
starting with your turbo car... just because it has it..doesn't mean it runs it 24/7 every time you drive.not to mention full turbo boost at low speeds.
and a standard clocked system has it's place just like an over clocked system has it's place in the world as well... you have to keep an open mind on all these things.(well, technically you don't) not everyone wants to over clock and not everyone can afford dual card systems. ergo testing in all aspects.
as for the 4870m's
im pretty sure that ati is closely watching these latest turn of events in their mobile chip solution. probably yanked the 4870m's due to what they seen from their 3870m's. they have people watching all the forums. and with k|n breaking 16k and closely approaching 17k has them more than likely readjusting the 4800's so to make sure they out perform the 3800's (speculation of course) -
so where is the 9800m gtx sli on the 3dmark06 front ?
-
It was in regards to Gateway P-6831fx/x7800/4GB/500 GB RAID 0, Vista 64
being compared to a x9100 with a 3870 Im not saying it has to be OCED to all hell. But who is not going to set the multiplier up to 3.3?
You took what I said out of context. I drive a twin turbo Supra. And yes I said turning the Boost down. So in context would imply still running them just not using them. -
And just to clear things up a little the ATI cards are projecting:
4850 x2
and
4870
the X2 does NOT mean crossife it means its a duel channel video card. -
Far out, you guys are expecting too much of the 4870M. You
Cannot compare with desktop scores or get an idea of the difference in scores. Was the 9600M leagues ahead of the 8600M, like the 9600GT and 8600GT? No.
Im guessing a single 4870M will get slightly (only slight) better than the 9800M GTX. -
You cant compare Nvidia 8 series to 9 series to ATI's 3 series to 4 series.
Ati 4 seiries will be 1Gig as opposed to the current 512 -
"meant to be over clocked" is of course an opinion but not a fact. (one i would agree with you fully! *LOL*) -
"running a trubo car with the PSI meter a 0...."
Well I was referring to the BIOS being clockable and the extreme performance chips that they do this with. Yes it isnt a fact but otherwise why would you buy a x9100 =) -
no arguments out of me there. i would buy to over clock. only reason why i went with the 9550 for this was because you can't over clock the cpu..else i would have bought the qx model for this. *sniff* *sniff*
-
Doesnt matter. The extra memory wont be used anyway. Its a 256bit card.
-
if you look at the performance of a desktop 4870 in comparison to a desktop 2x3870 cf, its the 4870 all the way. why shouldn't we expect similar performance gap from the mobility products ?
as to 1gb version vs. 512mb do explain this http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/video/ati/1gb4870/comparingperfimprovements.png
