    Hello,

Recently I received my ZNote 6314W (core2duo) and after installing all needed software I wanted to monitor the cpu temperature etc. But I found that there were 5 thermal zones. So I was wondering if someone knows how to find out which thermal zone contains cpu1, which one for cpu2 etc.

    Thx
    Sjieke

I'd assume the both CPUs are in the same thermal zone, as they're in the same processing system. Which software are we talking about?

This is a good question. Of the utilities that I've used that measure CPU temperatures, they didn't need to be instructed where to look.

    The software used:
    * for windows: NHC, it takes default one of the thermal zones for the cpu but on the site ( http://www.pbus-167.com/nhc/nhc_main.htm#anchor_acpi_thermal_zone you can read "If the notebook has more ACPI Thermal Zones you can define the Thermal Zones with the CPU temperature", so I assume they guess which one is for the cpu.
    * For linux you can find the thermal zones in the directory "/proc/acpi/thermal_zone/", the monitoring application GKrellm provides a feature to read the values...

I took a look again and the 6 thermal zones are: TZ00, TZ01, TZCL, TZCR, TZVL,TZVR
