    Hi! :(

Found the new chipset driver for the 6625wd over at Zepto's ftp.

Problem, i can't install the bloody driver, i get the prompts and as it is supposed to start copying files it just flashes and i get the prompt that say installation complete "finish".
Nothing gets updated and nothing happeneds after restart as the readme.txt says. I have turned off AV, and tried in safemode only thing i havn't done yet is to maually install each of the systemparts drivers.. kinda last resort.
    Why is this not working..

    Log says:

    Copy File Source = D:\FTP\ULoads\Drivers\Zepto6625wd\Chipset\Intel_Chipset_8.3.1.1009_Vista_32bit\CSVer.dll

    -------------------------------------------------------

    Update:
According to regestry the installation is succesful.. tried to manually install the drivers but apparently the old version is the latest.. so whats new in 8.3.1.1009?
All that is copied is the CSVer.dll... which does what.. no new drivers installed or avalable in the bundle.

I had also noticed that Zepto had posted a newer Intel chipset driver package. However, I see the contents date from June 2007.

I suspect that this driver package is only intended for initial installation. Intel doesn't seem to have an equivalent driver update package.

I looked a bit deeper and found out 2 drivers that were newer but didn't get installed either only when i did it manually:
    Mobile intel pm965.....pci express root
Mobile intel pm965.....processor to dram controller

both have been upgraded to 8.3.1.1004

They did not get installed when running the setup i had to look manually on each file for version info and compare found only theses 2...

John Ratsey, have you been able to get a complete install? or did same happened to you?

The chipset drivers from Intel will only install fully on a fresh install of Windows. If you have already installed a chipset driver it will not update fully.

So only way of updating drivers is to do it manually then?
anythig to think aboutwhen doing so... nothing in the readme about it..
i mean the 6625 needs all the help it can get to run as smooth as possible so the chipset driver could surley help a bit... a new install of win each time seems very rough for such an small upgrade...

or am i wrong here? I mean can it do damage to install it manually?

Well, my issue isn't realy finding drivers the once on intels sitefor the 965 hip is the one zepto delivers (officially) and i know there are mor recent once.

The question i have is, do i realy need to make an fresh install of vista for it to work properly or is it oki to install the chipset driver manually as it seems o be the only way wthout reinstalling the os?

well did you noticed problems with the PCI-E (or graphicdevice (expect stuttering^^)) or bad memory-performance?
if not, theres no need to install, else try to remove the device and rename or remove the old drivers from the drivers.cab
after this is it should be installed the windows drivers and behave like a new installation

I updated these drivers using the switch which forces the update no matter what, (it's in the readme that intel supply with the drivers) Unfortunately the driver installation package tells me that I already had the latest drivers and that these were older. Would explain why they don't update and why zepto states that they are for new installs only. So in my oppinion, don't bother updating to these as you probably got newer ones should they fail to install the first time you try.

I did install them but i had to do it manually and they are newer.
I have installed even newer once though from stationdrivers.com, they are not officiall but alot newer.. .works just great and the installer worked just fine aswell. Old driver was xxx.1002 if i remeber correct 1009 included version xxx.1004 the one i now got from stationdrivers.com is xxx.1005.
Ps. version numbers are as i recall, not facts. I'm not on my lappy now so i can't verify them.

Just been to Station Drivers and downloaded the 8.7.1007 version drivers. Tried to run the install and it tells me I already have them. I wonder what is going on here.
