Zepto has 'released' a new 15,4" Zepto Znote!
It's name is 'Titan' and the price will only be 299,- euro

    Standard Specificatons*:
    15,4" 1280x800 pixels
Intel Celeron van het type M550 2,0Ghz
    1GB RAM
    80GB HDD
    DVD-writer

This 'Titan' will be standard delivered without an OS!

They will be available in the end of this month :D

In my humble opinion very cool specs for that budget.. what do you think?

(At the moment I'm looking for English newsitems about the 'Titan'
I can only find some Dutch newsitems, so if you have got one? Post it!!)

It doesn't actually sound that super cheap. Laptops are getting closer and closer to €250-300 in the budget range, with the same specs, but including OS.

The lack of the Microsoft tax is one of the features which makes it attractive provided that the user is happy with whatever can be easily set up under Linux. It might be a good alternative for young children or old parents who need neither reasonable CPU or graphics performance. (So what do I do with the old computers that pass through my hands which I currently give to such people?). I might get one to play with. Does that price include VAT?

It could be argued that the Titan is quality, in terms of build (if it does have good quality build), while using components which are must less expensive and give adequate performance for less demanding users. Until someone has given it a thorough examination we won't what its qualities are. Often the notebooks at this end of the market contain serious compromises and don't feel very durable.

If notebooks like this help to share the overheads and ensure that the prices of their performance notebooks competitive then there's no reason to complain.

I think it's interesing for people just like my mother..
At the moment she has got a 7" Asus Eee and she is blablabla'ing about the little screensize. With this laptop you've got a 15,4" screen with nice resolution!

The 299,- euro is include VAT :D

And I don't agree with you Baserk :)
Zepto is offering a nice laptop for a nice price...
Not because other brands also offer that but because Zepto is quality!

You aren't going to say that you really prefer an Acer, Haier or Packard Bell above a Zepto... Laptops like these will be great for my mother, but I don't like those brands.. and with this Zepto 'Titan' I woulden't be afraid for issues!

Well to be perfectly honest, Zeptos quality is better than Acer and those low cost brands, but is very similar to Dell in build quality. Zepto isn't really anything spectacular in quality.

The Titan is now on the UK website. Two basic configurations:

I can't figure out whether those prices include delivery.

Upgrade from the Celeron 550 to a T2370 is only £14.24 so that could be of interest as a price-competitive dual core non-Windows machine. However, there's a footnote:
Order one and you get the Manual 3214/3215/3414/3415. Is this correct?

Finally, can someone from Zepto explain the service / warranty arrangements? Is a basic 12 month RTB included as standard and the KvikRep is a premium for jumping the queue? I see there's also an on-site next business day service option. However, there are various exclusions including:

    "Unnecessary running"....
That opens up a whole range of possible arguments between a customer and Zepto.

"My machine is defect". What did you do with it?
"I watched Youtube video's all day long"; Unnecessary!
"And I browsed Ebay a long time for an original 50's movie poster"; Unnecessary!
    Etc. ;)

    Nice find John!
