As far as I can determine, the IFT01 is vaporware for US buyers. I can buy the 3214W, but have to import it, pay ridiculously high VAT, and then run the risk of major hassles should I ever need to send it in for repairs.

Two questions for the collective .....

    1) - What's your experience with Zepto phone/internet customer service? Can most issues that you would expect to be resolved over the phone actually get resolved over the phone?

    2) - If you were in no huge hurry to buy a notebook, would you wait for the Compal or still buy the Zepto?

    Thanks for any input.

If you live in US it might not be a that good idea to buy a Zepto, cos there is pretty many bugs in both hard-/software. But if you manage to get some deal with zepto that you can buy it for 0%VAT from Europe and pay taxes when it comes to US and manage to get a repair-in-uS deal (for warranty-repairs) then go for it.

Off course you don't have to pay the European VAT if you live in the US and order through the global Zepto website, only local&import taxes.
Repairs will be a b**ch though, without a local/national reseller.
