    Evening all,

I seem to have a rather severe problem with my Zepro 3415W (2.4G C2D, 4G RAM, 512M 8600M GT bought late nov 07). Recently when using it to play any kind of 3d based game I get no more than about 5 minutes out of it before the internal temperature hits 96 degrees Celcius and it shuts down automatically.

As you can imagine, this is extremely annoying.

Can anyone recommend anything to fix the problem, or am I just another victim of the 86xx series gfx card problems... ?

    Any help is much appreciated!

Faulty gpu. Contact your notebook support and explain the issue.

Can't say I'm too happy although I did suspect something may be wrong soon after I got the laptop when I read about all the 6 series zepto problems on here with the same chipset.

Originally I thought the gfx card was running too hot for a 14" notebook, turns out that it was just running too hot full stop...

I'm just about to put a rather annoying order in for another external HD so I can back up my data before my laptop goes back (I'm assuming that's what Zepto will do)...

As they say - why have a Ferrari that can only go into 2nd gear? I've been underclocking my gpu and memory to play games for longer.... this is daft.

Hopefully Zepto will do the right thing for those with affected chipsets.

I would put money on Zepto saying that it is dusty and sking you to return it to them. Thats what I was told last month when I contacted Zepto regarding my Graphics card getting too hot. I haven't returned it to them as 15 working days whilst they clean my notebook is a bit too much for me at the moment.
Edit: Try blowing compressed air through the vent in the left hand side of your notebook. That should dislodge some of the dust and see if the temps drop after you've done that.

If the notebook has any bottom air vents then it will tend to suck in fluff and dust, particularly if used on soft surfaces. This is what can happen.

Is there a cover on the bottom of the 3415W so you access the CPU and cooling system? If so open it and check the cleanliness.

If there is still excessive temperatures once you know the cooling system is reasonably clean then it's time to contact Zepto for service.

and the cooling system gets clogged up even when it breathes trough the keyboard.
    I know, trust me :p

(my temps went 10-15C down after cleaning)

I'm a 3415W user, it regularly requires you to blow out the crap at the exhaust (left side on the backside of the laptop) with compressed air, will work perfectly then again (for some time)...

Also remember to actually take out the keyboard when cleaning (if it breathes trough the keyboard), otherwise you just blow the dust off the grill onto the fan, wich blows it back to the grill.

The 3415W doesn't need to have the keyboard removed to clean it. Just remove the latch on the right when you have it with the bottom up :)
