    Well,

    I'm a happy owner of a Zepto Znote 6214W, 1.8GHz Core Duo, 1GB RAM.
However, after 5 months of use my slot-in DVD drive started to juggle and then
finally gave up on me day before christmas weekend  Yeha I know, I called Zepto and explained them that my DVD drive were trashed and I wanted a normal (not slot-in) and I had a new drive (both Sony) the next day in mail (quick support, ni daubt). However now after a month and a half of use, maybe burned 4 or 5 DVD's and 1 or 2 CD's it also gaved up on me. It just went nuts one day and set the speed record in DVD burning. So I plugged my machine for power and rebooted into Windows. Well not so happy to that my DVD drive said something like "jiggle jiggle squeezzz" sounds and just "risling" sounds, that's it this happens to a weekend, so I cannot play my favor games :( I think my DVD Drive Slot is cursed somehow. This monday they have to send me a new one, because this is quite frustrating.

I just wanted to share my story with other Zepto owners and maybe someone can regognize some kind of same event that occured for them? Well tell us about your weird feelings about this machine. Afterall, it's a nice machine. No daubt, but I really now wished that I haven't returned my MacBook for this machine, or am I just so delirious?

Please talk to me, I'm kind of desperate, well I need to have this weekend to move fast until monday so that I can get my dvd-drive, this is just what I need up to a weekend. God bless Apple that I have my iPod and tons of music and movies on there.

Please feel free to flame me out or whatever, afterall this is the only Zepto forum that I know of. Not even in my own country do they have it (Denmark), kind of disapointing actually.

Well, good night folks. Been a pleasure to talk to you all and thanks for reading this.

    Cheers

Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I wasn't surprised to hear about the troubles with the slot-loading drive, as I feel that technology just hasn't matured enough yet. The second drive failure is a bit of a surprise though. Hopefully this next one does the trick.

Since you like to play games though...I don't think you really meant what you said about regretting the switch from your MacBook ;).

Ohh yes I would. Would be more than happy to get a MacBook instead of this one, believe me. Well, that's another story. I just thaught that I need to write my frustrations out, it's just soo.. well, typical upto a weekend :(

I have nothing against the MacBook, but if you like to play games--the Intel GMA 950 doesn't come close to the go 7600 Zepto puts in the 6214W.

Naah, that doesn't matter. I have some other games I like to play, like Second Life, Supertux and RuneScape. Well, guess that's it.

I will admit the MacBook definitely has its advantages.

Please post your trade request in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum according to their posted rules. Thanks.

Uhh-uhh.... I read a few postings about the slot-in-drive problems and worried when I ordered mine with one.
However it worked fine from the first minute on - so I thought that "the others" must have had some bad luck with their drives. Reading now that the drive problems can occur even after a longer period worries me again.... I have mine since mid last October.
3D-gaming is one of my major uses of my zepto... macbook looks nice, but nothing for me.
Do you have an external optical drive?

the slotin drive while stylish is not as reliable as the old tray drives, the loading mech is easily borked

Im from Denmark too. I had a good look at this forum and asked allot of questions before i desided to buy my 6615.

I was really in love with the slotin drive after seeing a macbook in action. But the tales of faulty drives from this forum, made me go for the old school tray. And i am very happy with it.
It doesnt even have a 2x speed limit when ripping dvd's like the dvd writers in my other 2 computers.

Chrisyano Said it. The slotin is not mature at this point. Im sorry that you have been this unlucky with your drives.

Im waiting for a copy of Vista Ultimate i ordered today. And i hope that the tv tuner you can get at Zepto works with Vista Ultimate. Since it has all the features including mediacenter stuff. But thats for another thread.

Cheers mate, eller Skål mester. Jeg håber du får løst det med zepto. Det er ellers nogle gode computere, når du virker som de skal.

I just think you have been unlucky with your drives, try to send it in again, and it will hopefully solve your issue.

I've have my zepto 6615WD for about 6 months now and the dvd drive has been nothing but terrible, sometimes it doesn't work, hardly reads any discs, and when it does burn to dvd it takes about 5 minutes to initiate which is crap.
