Hello, I got a zepto 6224 and today when I was going to start up the computer, the screen wont operate, the computer starts but screen is black.

Anyone know what I can do about it? Is it the graphic card that died? Dont hear any beep sounds or anything though.

    Help please.

Can you connect to an external display? If that is OK then the problem is probably with the backlight (you should be able to see a very feint image on the screen under the right lighting).

If there's nothing on an external monitor either then suspicion must fall on the GPU.

Ok, hmm I dont got a external display. :(

Started the computer again and noticed it starts, but get stuck at some point and just stop loading.

I play alot of games so I guess the GPU could have burned, but I didn't really do anything last night, just listened to some music.

Can you send computers to Zepto without warranty?

    Dont got a external display,

All lamps, caps-lock and such works.

It starts, harddrive makes some sound and then just stop and fan keeps going quietly for itself, so silent... :,(

Does the Zepto splash screen display? If so, can you get into the BIOS and see some BIOS screens?

If the BIOS displays OK then create a Linux live CD and boot from it. If Linux displays OK then the problem is with Windows or the display driver. If the display is also blank with Linux then this points to the GPU.

So far, Zepto have not acknowledged the nVidia GPU problem so you may have difficulty obtaining out of warranty cover. You may have to look for consumer advice on latent defects.

No screen display, just as black as a moonless night.

I wrote before that the harddrive made a sound but was probaly just the cddrive, cddrive makes some click, the lights go on and the fan keeps spinning but thats the only things that happen.

Two months from warranty.. Thanks alot for the help though :)

Try removing / replacing the RAM, or just use one module (try each in turn if you have two).

Sometimes a RAM problem can cause the symptoms you describe. The hardware tries to wake up but the CPU goes nowhere because of the RAM malfunction.

Alright thanks, says "warranty lost if removed" so I'll wait with that. Since RAM should live more than 14 months it must be a fabric problem.

Just hoping it aint the harddrive or gpu :(

But does not laptop makes beep sounds from the mothercard like stationary computers? Have had one with faulty ram and with burned graphic card. Both made a hell of a beep sound.

That Warranty lost if removed is referring to the actual IC's on the memory modules. Not the modules themselves, so you are safe to remove these. Just push the clips retaining them apart and they should spring up, then pull the module out. Failure sounds are specific to the bios that is installed in the notebook. I don't know if Zepto has this.

Alright thanks, well I tried it now but it didn't work so I guess its not the ram.

Didn't acctually change the RAM - just tried one at a time.

What are the chances its the GPU or hardrive or even mothercard thats gone dead?

The 6224 has the GPU built onto the motherboard, so if its gone dead you would have to have the motherboard replaced even if it is just the GPU thats died. Can you boot a live linux cd? (Ubuntu for example). You could try removing the harddrive and trying to boot the computer to rule the harddrive out.

    Don't got Linux.

Not the best hardware computer guy ;P, so will I loose warranty if I remove the harddrive?

I had the exact same problem!

Called ZeptoSupport and got a new harddrive - that solved the problem!

    hope it helps...
