Yesterday I got this Zepto newsletter which claims to offer £220 saving on the 6224W so check the price again.

Maybe they changed the specs of the base model. Did you previously configure a machine and keep a copy of the price build-up?

We Had the value configuration for 479.99 however the power model is only 50 more and has a wifi card, a faster CPU (1.66 T5450 VS 1.5 T5250) and a 120GB 7200 instead of the 80GB 5400 drive that the value configuration included

This will be until the 7th of December

The Zepto discount is still valid untill the end of today since it runs out on the 7th December 2007. So get in while you can not forgetting to mention that you are buying on the Zepto discount ending today, and not the one currently listed. I have just put my order in.

Great news! I thought I've missed the discount! I'd love to buy 6224W tonight, but... where can I find the specs and exact discount pricing?? Could someone help, please...

My only source of information now is the November newsletter... I assume that the price for 6224W from the newsletter: £529, is for basic "Power" configuration? (like this: http://uk.zepto.com/Shop/Config.aspx?configurationid=290&notebookid=644)

Does it mean, that if I'll decide to replace i.e. CPU and I would like to find out how much I will really pay (with the discount) I just need to add the CPU price from the website to the promo price... is this correct? And does it make any sense at all ;)

Or maybe guys from Zepto would be so kind to say something about possible New Year's sale or any other discount we can expect in the next months?

I will be grateful for quick response!

    Cheers,
    Tom

    Tom,

The price has gone up around £70-£75 & now comes with Counter Strike Source, my suggestion for a gaming/power configuration is :

£712.43 - Intel Turbo memory 1GB has disappeared but was around £19.50.
    120GB 7200rpm SATA Harddisk Samsung®
Zepto Zpro 300Mbit Wifi Card (ABGN)
    No OS
    SAMSUNG DVD-RW DL
    Keyboard Znote 6x14W Black UK
    14,1" WXGA+ 1440x900 - 6224W
12 months pick up & return
    6 Cell Battery
    NVIDIA® Geforce 8600M GT
    Online discount UK 5
PC Game Bundle Counterstrike Source UK
    2.00 GHz Intel® Core™2 Duo T7250 800MHz
    2GB (2x1024) DDR2 800/PC6400 SODIMM

In regards to your comments placed regarding January ZeptoUK will not know the deals or inflation/deflation of components until then. Though with Penryn etc.... coming out you are looking at a total refresh in the coming months & maybe even a higher price (probably around the same though).

Does anyone know why the 6224w only comes with upto 2GHz processors on the UK Site? I'm sure I've seen some people here with faster ones; T7500's etc

I think there are two possible reasons: (a) concern about the extra heat from faster CPUs and (b) the BIOS on the board as supplied only supports up to 2GHz, so to put in a faster CPU means building the computer with one CPU, flashing the BIOS and then changing the CPU, which is all extra time and cost in a competitive market. CPU speed doesn't significantly affect gaming performance and you will only see the difference between a T7250 and a T7500 if you get out a stop-watch.

I'm gonna have to wait until they come out with a new discount offer. Theres no way i'm paying 650gbp for a 6224w when i couldve gotten it for approx 100 less :p
