the 6324 has some pretty big looking speaker for a laptop under the screen, how loud are they. because on all my previous laptops the speakers might as well not be there and i always have to use external ones, are the 6324s any different?

quite loud.....They will be 2w total. Laptop speakers are never going to be that great, they sound pretty good but obviously lack in bass

they are loud indeed but the sound is really bad quality (I have a 6224W)
Had to use earphones. Earbuds will make you hear high backgound noise.

I'm assuming that you have the same audio hardware as my 6024W.

Have you found the Realtek control panel (see the attached). It was not installed on my 6024W by default but it really transforms the audio quality when you tick the "Loudness Equalisation" box. If you don't have it, install the audio driver.

thanks for the tip. It appears however that the realek manager is different...I'll still look some more on the realtek site.

I have the 6.0.1.5391 drivers installed on my 6324w, my realtek control panel looks excatly the same except that very option and its checkbox just isnt there.

I still find the speakers pretty descent to be laptop speakers.

interesting, where did you find those ?
I was under the impression that R1.72 were the latest Realtek drivers (and I had to downgrade to R1.71 because of corrupt sound in FlatOut2)

The latest we have officially released and tested are Realtek R1.70.
The reason why we released those drivers are because the one that where on the driver CD apparently didn't switch to the headphone jack on the laptop when you plugged things in it under Vista.
