I have a problem with my Zepto 6615WD.

The problem is that I get black screen upon power up. The screen just stay black and there is no "beep noise", but the CPU/GPU fan and the lights are turned on (e.g if charging = yellow, and on battery = blue).

I had another problem before the screen stopped working. When the laptop was turned on, suddendly the screen could just die on me, but the sound still worked and if I tried to close and open the display, the laptop always crashed.
The black screens only appeared if I e.g. would lift my laptop or if I nudged the laptop (giving it a gentle hit). I don't think the black screens ever came by itself without me touching the computer, so it has to be something with the hardware?! And now, as I said earlier the laptop won't start because the screen just stays black and there is no "beep" at startup.

I think the problem with the screen dying, first happened after I opened the laptop (but im not sure this was the reason). I had to open it because it was out of warranty and my laptop always turned it self of because it got to hot (my CPU reached 100c, so I had to remove all the dust from inside and add new arctic silver).

This is what I have done to try fix it:
Changed RAM and reconnect the GPU and the VGA cable inside the laptop. I have also tried to connect a monitor, but nothing happened. And of course checked that all the cables are right where they should be.

I have added 2 pics of the CPU and GPU. Im not an expert, but they don't seem to be fried or broken pins.

Does anyone know what I can do? To send it to Zepto is not an option, because it will cost a fortune + take ages to get it back.

And at last i'm sorry if my english is bad, but I hope you understand what I mean.

It sounds like your graphics card has died. Either that or you have a completly knackered motherboard and it just fails to boot. Do you have any harddrive activity when you switch it on? I know you can't see anything on the screen but you should be able to see the hard drive light flashing quite a lot as it tries to load windows. If there is no activity it points toward your motherboard, if there is activity it is most likely the graphics card. Only option then is to either try and get another graphics card from Zepto or off ebay, or send it to Zepto for repair. (providing they can offer a repair and its not too old)

Well the GPU seems intact, as its completely black (=not fryed). Try taking out the BIOS battery and resetting the mobo that way.
If you dont get the splash screen or your CD-drive doesnt get the sound when having empty tray then I would suspec that your mobo has came to the end of its life

The GPU doesn't have to be completely black to be fried. That is just one of a multitude of reasons for a graphics card failure.

I said that because its black, the chip itself is not fryed. If its fryed it often go blue with other colors mixed in. The chips are mostly black when they come out of the factory (the packing material is black).

You usually easily spot if the component is fryed or not :)

But if the component has just failed, then there is more often than not not discolouration of the material used to make the device. It's my job to repair electronic assemblies, I do it all day and only when an IC goes through overheating does it become discoloured. So yeah, you're right in saying that it will go blue when "fryed" as this (fryed) implies overheating. Have you ever seen a GPU that died but was not related to overheating? I have and beleive me they look the same as a new GPU. IT's just one of those unfortunate things about electronics, you can only really tell if something is dead by trying it on a known good machine. Sorry for and confusion I may have caused, it was not my intent to call you a liar, just pointing out that it doesn't have to be discoloured to be dead.

I never said it has to be discolored to be broken, I just said that is not fryed, so its a bigger chance that its intact. And yes Iv seen broken electronics that looked like new. I dont sleep in the IT-school I go in ;)

I opened my laptop again and cleaned it with CRC elektronic cleaner and then I reconnected the GPU and all cables, and now it starts! :) But still the screen sometimes go black if I nudge the chassis.... It's very anoying, but it's better than having a dead laptop!

    New reply to old post...

Had the exact problem described in this thread. I unplugged and unscrewed most of the parts in my Znote 6324W.

Under the thingy that protects the GPU (not the heatpipe, but the alu shiny thingy) i found a loose screw of origin unknown, but I must have dropped it into the mobo in the past, and now it had wedged itself under the most inaccessible part of the motherboard and probably caused a short-circuit.

 Keep track of all loose screws!

:p Was soo happy when I started up the note and POST screens finally flashed by. It complained about a corrupt CMOS (tried most things, including removing Li-I battery to reset CMOS) and loaded factory settings.

It like now like works like a charm...

Be careful when opening your laptop and screwing. Also use anti-stat equipment. I didn't, but I was lucky. I've touched *every* d*mn part of that notebook and I'm simply SO releived that I didn't mess anything up.

If you're looking for a good guide, don't read this post which is simply a happy exclamation  Read this:

    http://smallvoid.com/article/repair-motherboard-bios.html

Also worth to note that if you forget to lock the 180 degree lock on the CPU socket, you'll get *exactly* the same symptoms. (BSOD a very simple symptom however)

Failing CPU/GPU/MOBO is definitely not a rational 1:st assumption as a cause for the no-POST failure. Unscrew and check everything first, so much can go wrong...

    Don't trust me! I'm just happyhappy :p :p :p
