"PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable."
    "PXE-M0F: Exiting PXE Rom"
    "Operating System not found."

    I just opened it up on my birthday. What do I do? ;_;

    Hey Kittie Rose,

Congratz to you, and your new Zepto 6615WD :)

The first thing to do is to install an OS, like Windows XP or Vista

Thats a real nice birthday gift. Unfortunately, like Dark said, you need to install an operating system.

Its too bad that the person who bought you the laptop didnt buy it with the operating system preinstalled. It is cheaper to buy windows with the computer, then if you buy it with out a computer.

Maybe you can talk to Zepto, and get an oem version of Windows sent to you.

I hope you sort it all out. Its a lovely computer. :)

    Cheers

Actually, I would recommend downloading a Linux distribution and loading your laptop up with that instead. Ubuntu being a good and obvious choice for most users.

That's what I shall be doing with mine when I eventually get around to buying one...

    Uhm... JediTom,

Correct me if I am wrong, But
I think Kittie Rose is not a very expert in linux. And he/she would probably going to use Windows...

    :)

Actually I am a Linux user. However I still think it's very arrogant to think it can replace windows, especially since the 6615WD is a gaming laptop. When Linux can play the new Elder Scrolls game, then I'll give it a try for gaming. Until then I use it for MIDI composing web browsing and crap.

Yeah, they didn't ship it with an OS. I installed XP off a Cd I have but unfortunately I can't seem to get the Webcam to work. What kind of webcam does it use? Where can I get drivers? It says it isn't picked up when I run the Bison program.

Use some ftp client program and d/l Zepto's drivers from their server, which is:

    ftp.zepto.dk

no password or username required to log in

    Hey Kittie Rose,

Try turning on the webcam with the button above your keyboard.

Windows will then recognise your webcam :p (I found it out after a week :p)

Actually you don't need an ftp client, you can just go til ftp://ftp.zepto.dk in your browser :)

    Thanks!!!

I'm really loving my Zepto. It tears through Prey and Oblivion, still some slow down turning everything way up trying to get rid of jaggies though(any suggestions?) but it's a great laptop. Thank you to everyone who recommended it for me.

Not wishing to start a war and I'm only wanting to mention this for my own defense...

You can try running Elder Scrolls using Cedega under Linux. I don't know what that game is though, so I'm assuming the "IV: Oblivion" is the latest as found here... http://cedega.com/gamesdb/ It might also work under Wine, I don't know.

I'd be interested in hearing how well your 6615 works and if you have any troubles with it, though. I'm still procrastinating over my decision to get one.

Can't access Zepto FTP for some reason. Where can I get the latest Go 7600 drivers?

    Thanks!

I am a little upset that it doesn't play Oblivion as well as I thought it did. Though that's probably down to Oblivion being more hefty than I thought it would be - Prey, a pretty recent game, runs perfectly well. I'll have to give STALKER a go at some point.

Man the driver that comes with it is pretty old in comparison... hope this v. works better. But what should I download from the site currently? It's very confusing.

Yeah. At least the 97.44 (the newest one on ftp.zepto.dk) has caused me some issues (for example, Company of Heroes won't run at all). I'm actually considering of going back in drivers, or maybe popping to 97.92. I just have no experience on dabbling with the .inf files, so I'm a little hesistant about it. It can't be very difficult though, so maybe I should just get over it and try a new set.

Baserk just makes playing with those .inf's sound so hard. It's not really so. All you basically have to do when you've decided what drivers to download, is to unpack the zip file (drivers) and overwrite the .inf it's holding with a new one.

I'm having some problems leaving my Laptop in sleep mode when carry it around twice I've opened it up to find it ridiculously overheated, low/run out of battery, and once with a blue screen about a hardware error, something about memory parity. I get this error sometimes playing Oblivion, I think it's to do with the overheating as my Laptop gets quite hot playing Oblivion(anyway to reduce this?)

    What should I do?
