    Hi There,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to turn on Intel Hardware Virtulization Technology on? I have updated the bios to the latest 4638 & there is no option to turn this on. Does anyone know if it is on any previos bios versions for the mythos 15A? Any help would be appreciated as zepto curtomer care are crap at finding me an answer. Thanks in Advance.

p.s Ive splashed out on windows 7 pro. Pretty poop if I cant use xp mode which my processor supports & cost me an extra 100 pound to upgrade from home premium.

Has Zepto ever advertised about the machine supporting VT? If not there is not much I think you can do about it really. If they had advertised it a lot and saying "Buy this machine because it supports VT over one of our other models", then I think there would be a case. If not then I think it's just tough luck really. :(

Thanks for the reply. No zepto never sold me the laptop saying it supports intel VT but my processor supports it & since the laptop is only 1 year old i thought this option would there for users. They did tell me they would be supporting windows 7 when released. Should have probaily waited as sum of their znotes have this option.

Does anyone know another way to enable Intel VT??

As far as I know it has to be a BIOS option to be able to activate it (I know from stationary motherboards that is the case).

There shouldn't be a specific setting in the bios, it is a hardware function of the processor, not the motherboard. A bit like the thermal diode used to measure the core temps, its either there or not. To find out if your processor supports hardware virtualisation check the data sheet at intel. My 6324W has a T7100 which has hardware VT and it works fine with windows 7 xp mode. It worked fine in Vista with VirtualBox.

Well it has to be supported in the BIOS also. The 6324W might have some kind of "auto" function that enables it if needed/present in the CPU.

I know it needs to be supported, but I thought that nearly all new notebooks with the relevant chipset and processor would have no problems at all. Only way of finding out is to try it I guess. My suggestion would be to get a copy of virtual pc from ms and install any OS, check the settings to see if VT is supported. Don't forget that Virtual PC 2007 is a free download from ms and doesn't require a processor with intel VT to run. So at worst you can still use that.

Ok im confused i downloaded Virtual PC 2007 & set up a new virtual machine. In the settings i clicked on hardware virtualization & its faded out so i cant click the box to enable but when i run the virtual machine the setting is still faded but has a tick in the enabled box.

Does this mean my laptop can run xp mode even though there is no setting in the bios?

The BIOS might not support VT (which is stupid) even though the processor does. Or, more likely, you may not have enabled VT from within the BIOS settings. Check and see if that is available in the BIOS menu.
