A few initial observations:
The actual weight is 1.36kg, so somewhat heavier than the 1.1kg in the datasheet. Both the display back and the chassis are metal alloy so it feels like a very solid and durable machine. However, the 45W PSU is quite small and the travel weight is 1.65kg.
CPU-z reports the name on the mainboard is Mitac, model number 8212.
The display is glossy and not exceptionally bright although it loses contrast at the brightest setting. The lowest brightness setting is impossibly dark (but no doubt helps the battery life statistics).

The 1.1kg are without the battery like most other machines are weighed from other manufacturers.
There is not entrance to the RAM. The only thing you can reach from the outside is the WLAN card. -

The battery weighs 0.33kg, so a without battery weights doesn't make sense. There might be a 3 cell battery option to give a lower weight, but this would still be around 1.2kg.
I'm assuming the RAM is under the keyboard.
John
PS: I've just been reading the manual which does mention a 3 cell battery. -
Couldn't you make some comparison pics with other laptops (Zepto's maybe?)
Thanks in advance! -

Notebookjournal.de has Notus review, also in German. The photos are very good.

Here's the Notus outside next to my Sony G11 (both screens at full brightness).
The display brightness is similar but the gloss finish of the Notus display can cause reflection problems.
The power management on the Notus was predicting just over 5 hours at full brightness and with the wireless on, with the balanced power profile.

Thank you...
Waiting for the size comparison pictures with your 6024W -

Also a view of the left side showing the tapered shape. The 13.5mm thickness in the current datasheet is to the top of the front edge of the palm rest. The real thickness is 21mm to 35mm.

My review of the Notus is now published.

I noticed that somebody said Australian pricing was available via Google.
Australian pricing and the configurator is available on the Zepto website www.zepto.com select Australia, and we have the full complement of notebooks.
The Notus in Australia is priced from AUD1,693, and that include a 2 year Pick-up and Return warranty. 95% of all repairs are performed locally and the turnaround time is normally no more than 2 days in the workshop. -
Sorry for kicking this topic...
But are there any A12'ers who can tell me there feelings with the A12...
It still is an amazing notebook and whe it's good I maybe gonna buy it... -
Well I still have mine and loving it still. I've tried the ASUS and Acer netbooks, and I'm glad i have the Notus A12 instead. I'm running Vista on it evethough it is slower than running XP, but I've gotten so used to Vista, that XP just seems so... umm old?
I get a battery time of 3½ to 5½ hours with normal usage and about 6½-7 hours of very light usage. I hardly ever use the Bluetooth device so that doesn't use power.
It does get hot when running Vista because it uses the chipset (onboard graphics) fully all the time as it can run Aerobut the heat is a lot less under XP. The fan is not silent, but when running Vista without Aero it hardly ever turns on.The fanis a 40 or 50mm fan so it is noisy compared to the air it moves, but then again there is limited space in the model.
The price on the Notus A12 is higher than the netbooks, but it's also a whole other quality of machin. Fully aluminium/metal, and not fully plastic as the netbooks.
Also the resolution of 1280x800 compared to the 1280x600 on most netboos does count when writing documents on it and readingpages on the Internet.
The only thing you can expand/change is the WLAN card, everything else is not accessable unless taking the WHOLE and i mean the whole machine apart. Wouldn't recommend it. -
Ahh thanks... I'm still loving the design and the compactness...
(most netbooks has got 1024x600 pix =)
I'm gonna contact Zepto NL! Maybe I can review one... (and buy it afterwards)
