Has anyone bought a zepto and extended the servce? Has anyone had to use it? What was your experience with it?

Why do zepto charge for the first 12 months (£47 on uk site), i thought you were supposed to get 12 months as standard by law?

Would anyone recommend extending to 2-3 years.

Will zepto be offering accidental damage and theft cover?

Zepto offer some insurance (probably covers theft, maybe accidental) in Denmark. The UK site says that it's not offered here yet, but may in the future. Personally, I plan to just extend my possessions insurance to cover the laptop. (£77 for a year, a bit steep but oh well)

Dunno about the law. I wasn't even aware there was such a law. If there is, it may be different in the UK? Anyway, all manufacturers include the price for their warranty somehow (in the laptop's price, for example). Just with Zepto, it's more transparent.

Most manufactures who include the price for their warranty dont give you the option of saving money by not taking it

UK consumer law implies a 12 month warranty into all contracts for purchase. I'd imagine the collect and return policy is just a non-mandatory level of protection for the consumer where he/she gets extra bits and bobs such as Zepto having your laptop collected repaired and going than extra bit more that normal consumer law doesn't require. I'd imagine if your Zepto dies if you don't have collect and return you'd have to foot the bill for getting the laptop to them, they just have an obligation to make it work i think. Dell have a similar 3 month collect and return policy and after the 3 months people are still protected by statutory law

Have you tried alternative Zepto e-mail addresses (e.g. [email protected], [email protected], etc)? For some reason the addresses Zepto give out are actual specific employees. This system is poor (it would be better to have one address which is used to forward e-mails to relevant employees)
I doubt they'd intentionally just take your money for an item they haven't sent.

We have had the 12 cells batteries for the older models for a while, but the new (as in re-calibrated) 12 cells batteries for the 6024/6224/6324/6025/6625 are yet to be received from our supplier, so that is why you haven't received your battery fanikatsomo.com.

The new machines draw so much power from the batteries that the shorting protection cuts off the machine as soon as you pull the powerplug if you have one of the old batteries for the new machines with a top configuration, hence the re-calibration needed.

As soon as we get new batteries I'm sure you'll get one when we ship the ones preordred out to Finland.

Does the service cover dead pixels? I read something on the zepto site but was unsure about whose point of view it was writing from, and whether the laptop had to have that criteria to get the lcd changed, or if the laptop had that criteria it wouldnt be covered.

Do those slot in dvd drives go wrong more often than standard dvd drives? This is one of the reasons i was considering extra service.

Within the first 14 days the LCD panel is changed free of charge if just one pixel error is discovered. When the laptop is older than 14 days the criteria on our site has the be met on the LCD panel for it to be changed.

We don't see much difference in error rate on the Slot-in drives compared to the tray drives.

Rene, can you comment on this: I have hard drive Samsung HM120JI. I ordered hybrid hd. i guess this is not a hybrid drive.

But as I have XP installed as OS, and as it cannot use hybrid can device manager tell the incorrect model name?

so far zepto has been the most perfect pc.
