My UK bought Zepto 6214W graphics card has recently broken as it does not appear to work every time I enable it in Windows. I have reinstalled drivers and tried every method of fixing it but this does not help. I have contacted Zepto and they suggested returning it to them.

However my question is about what you should receive with Zepto's warranty. When I contacted Zepto they said:

Now I purchased the notebook less than 24 months ago so it is still in warranty, but it seems Zepto want to charge me for the repair. Is this allowed? Why wouldn't the warranty I paid for cover the cost of something going wrong with the system?

If you can give me any advice on the situation then please reply.

    Thanks.

So what you're saying is, you've been told the extra you paid wasn't for a warranty against defects/failures it was only to cover the freight? I suggest you contact them again stating that at the time of purchase there was no implication that this would be the case.

    Yes contact them.
For the last month or so I notice on the UK site they have dropped the 24 month option for service leaving just the inclusive 12 month and the 36 month option as only ones available.
I too bought the 24 month option back in August 07 and it was for full pick up and return to base.
My 6625 has since then spent only half the time with me; it is either being repaired or in transit to and from (UPS take a full week Ireland - Denmark and 9 days on return).
My graphics problem has been like I am on 16bit color and solarized on maximum gamma at that. Maybe one boot in ten it would be OK for half hour or so until deterioration to andy warhol picure.
Last repair I even upgraded to Penryn trying to save overheating in addition to undervolting I have been running since problem #1.

Why would you purchase a 24 month warranty if you cant send it back? that seems a pretty strange reply from zepto. My zepto is only on the 12 month warranty but i will probably be sending it back again once i finish this university year as i have a similar problem with my touchpad randomly working (most of the time not) and vista not recognising its even there! ive uninstalled the device reinstalled drivers nothing works, quite annoying carrying a mouse everywhere!

The only reasons I can think of for Zepto's response is that either (i) they have got the impression that you have broken something and want it to be repaired, rather than the computer is defective. or (ii) that it is a software problem.

You may need to wipe and reinstall Windows and the latest Zepto drivers (download them in advance from the Zepto site) in order to exclude the software problem.

I had an exchange of emails with Zepto over the last week and I have done everything they suggested including reinstalling drivers but that didn't help. They then agreed that the notebook should come in for repair, and when I asked for a courier to be arranged, I received the reply in my original post about me having to pay for its repair. It is obvious from my emails that the notebook's graphics card has become defective and there was not a software problem.

In the mean time I have written back to them explaining that the extra warranty I paid for (24 months) did cover repair of laptop defects such as is in my case.
