Hello!
I am new to the forum and would really like som help![]()
Anyways, here is my problem: After having my Znote 6214W charging over night (the computer was in "resting" state (not hybernate)), it wont start. I have checked the battery and the charger with my brothers Zepto and it works. So, as I see it, the problem is hardware related? Also, I was told there has been no lightning and whatsoever during the night.
When I connect the Power Supply, no leds turn on. But, you can hear a "clicking" sound every 0.5 seconds. When I press the Power On button, nothing at all happens. I have tried with and without the battery connected, and with another battery and power supply which both works fine on another laptop.
Since I am going out of town for christmas, I dont really have time to send it in for repairs utill after new-years. And I was wondering if someone has any tips on what I can do?
Thanks!

Start by removing the battery for an hour then replace and retry. You can also try to start on mains without the battery.
The 6x24W series has the CMOS battery in the memory compartment. You could look there for your 6214W and if you find the battery, remove and replace it in order to clear the CMOS. Then retry starting.

Thanks for the reply John!
Unfortunately, removing the CMOS battery and putting it back in did not help. But it was worth a try -
A clicking noise may just be an indication that the hard drive is shot.....
Remove the hard drive and boot/switch on the laptop, if not then the clicking could be the CPU/GPU fan. -

I have tried running the harddrive in my brothers 6224W and it works perfectly. Allthough, I guess it could be some problem with the "connection" to the harddrive on my laptop?
EDIT: After again removing the Harddrive and plugging in the Power Supply the clicking sound is still there. Is there anyway I can access the CPU and have a look? -
The CPU wont produce any clicking sound at all, nor the GPU. Have you tested to remove battery and mains cable and then hit the power button, this should empty all the condensators.
But it might be that your motherboard has for some reason burnt out, or there might be a problem with the BIOS memories. -
Thanks for the reply Sprint!
Hitting the Power On Button with no power connected did not help I'm afraid. -
If that was aimed at my suggestion then please note that I did say the 'Fan'...
Freddelito,
When was the last time it was working?
What was the last thing you did with it?
Describe the clicking sound as best as you can... Which part of the laptop is it coming from? -
DodgeThis,
When was the last time it was working?
The night before. On the morning after it was... dead.
What was the last thing you did with it?
Checked some map descriptions on the internet... nothing out of the ordinary. Then I turned it to "sleep" mode (not hybernate).
Describe the clicking sound as best as you can... Which part of the laptop is it coming from?
It sound just like a very silent tick, tick, tick. About every 0.5 seconds. I found it very hard to locate but I get a sense of it comming from the "left" side of the laptop ( Not the Harddrive-side) -
Err... Im out of options

This sound is a sure indication of a defective motherboard unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply Rene S!
So... I have mailed Zepto now requesting an RMA number. But, I was thinking, the warranty should cover it right? I mean, the laptop is only 6 months old, and It has already been on service once (~2 months ago, for bluescreen error, network-card changed that time).
Hoping for a quick reply and repair... otherwise I will have to do without my precious laptop during that loong transatlantic flight
Again, Thanks everyone for all the replies. -

It should be covered then. I can't say in the specific case though, but generally it should be covered.
Zepto Znote 6214W is not booting (at all)
