Good news for 6224 users. But you said bios for 6625 would be released before this one? How come it's still not released?
-
Thank you for the new bios.
First impression is rather good when it comes to better fan control. The fan now kicks in at around 70C, cools for a few minutes until some unknown condition is present. My experience so far is that the fan starts more often, but the total time the fan is active is reduced. -

N0elia, yeah it was planned like that but some of the fixes we needed to put into it took longer to fix than expected. The 6625WD is still upcoming but should be released very soon.
Tyven, sounds good -
and this bios before 6625 too mega:cry:
-
Wohoo new bios! I hope it lives up to the expectations!
@Rene S
The changelog says something about temp reading corrections, is that supposed to fix the powermizer-declock-stutter madness for many of us too?
Ive just upgraded my bios to this one, and will report back with my experience. -

thomaskc.dk, it should correct the times where the BIOS somehow shows a wrong temp reading which causes the fan to run full speed, it it's related to the bug you are experiencing with powermizer I do not know.
-
thomaskc.dk,
noticed any difference? I'm curious.
And by the way! Possible to burn this ISO on DVD instead of CD? -
I will do this tonight when I get home

You might need to press F10 at the Zepto splash screen in order to boot from the optical disc (depending on the boot order set in your BIOS).
John -
I followed the directions to install this bios (and have done in the past with succes) but this time it just wont work.
I downloaded it from the link in this thread, and the title om the cd matches my model (6224w)... but I get a strange message "specified bios rom is not for this system" or something like that.
Any ideas? -
Otherwise you should perhaps just try do download and burn it again -
I called up zepto and they were able to tell me that it was because my power cable was not plugged in... 12cell ftw
It's a very misleading error message, but anyway, it's working now.
SO remember boys and girls - plug in your power -
Are someone familiar how to make this on a USB-disk/stick?
=Bootable and then running the bios.bat -
Just unpack the files from the .iso and put them in a folder on a bootable USB-stick.
Then you just just boot up on the stick and run the bios.bat file. -
tofen: Can you make an archive with the bootfiles? Would be grateful!
-
but i'm not 100% sure. -
Hehe it is only for WinXP, someone who can help me?
Problem with booting USB drives is that they don't have any fixed driveletters so It will not work just to take a 1,44" bootdiscs files.
Thanks anyway! -

Nania, originally the BIOS was not secured with a message when you where not running on AC adapter so we had the BIOS programmers check for AC adapter when starting the flash and this was the only message that where not a totally weird one so we had to choose that one. Unfortunately these errors are hard coded into the flash program and can't be changed.
The reason we put in this check was to be sure the machines wouldn't turn off during the BIOS update. -

What could be easily done is an extra line or two in the batch file with two points:
(i) Warning people to make sure they have the computer connected to mains power (otherwise they will get that cryptic error message)
(ii) Asking them to confirm that they want to upgrade the BIOS.
At the moment the BIOS upgrade CD runs with no user-intervention.

I have a few rewritable CDs for one-off tasks such as the BIOS upgrades. 8cm rewritable is very convenient to keep in the computer bag.

You however don't have to use a program like Nero, a smaller will do the trick. I can recommend Ultraiso -
and it was just a matter of picking up the phone and calling you guys -

We recommend using IsoRecorder
(i personally use it). A nice little tool.
John, good idea about the batch file. I'll take it into consideration and maybe update the current BIOS releases with this. -
Finally I've been at my parents home where I have my CD-RWs
Let's have a date, update (lol) -
Personally, this has been a big improvement noise wise for me. (upgrading from the 05e -> 6).
Even fixed an error where my screen was flickering on lowest light option for my screen (is this a known bug zepto?)
Good job so far -
I however do have another small issue, which has been existing in all bios versions: When I open the lid, and the computer is on, the screen sometimes turns black after a sekond or two, and I need to close and reopen the lid to make it work. Anyone having any experence with this? -
This BIOS fixed my FPS-dropping. I played the whole weekend without any FPS drops!!

Good point about the flickering on minimum brightness. That also seems to have been fixed in the 6024W BIOS.
John -
Nothing is fixed for me when it comes to fps drops.
I do however think it makes less noise now, Fan control seems to be better. -
About the fan control,
Haven’t tried it out yet, the new bios but I’m curious about the fan.
You write that it kicks in at 70 C and starts cooling down, then stops. Didn’t the old bios do the same thing, and starts the fans at middle speed! And that was annoying, I’m still on the first bios, think it's z14N004a, where the fan kicks in at 50C but at low speed, with I like more, it's more quiet...
At what speed does it kick in now???
(Don’t know if my explanations is a little bit confusing, but i did my best, anyway...)
//maka -
Now, with GPU throttling, the fan normally starts at around 65C and stops when the temperature is reduced to around 60C. It's however not constant; sometimes the fan starts at a lower temperature. It seems to start at the lowest speed.
More information about how the fan operates is welcome -
My fan kicks in at about 40C, and stops when its down to 36C again :S... anyway to change this?
Also it never goes down to 800mhz as it says in the changelog, 997.55mhz is as low as it gets...
I have a t5250 running XP using laptopvideo2go driver 171.16 and gpu is 56C in idle, if it might be of any help. -
Where did you find 171.16??
-
Oh right, didnt notice
-
Any one know what the settings "ALS Support", "EMA Support", and "MEF Support" in the BIOS do? I can't find any reference to them anywhere on the net.
-
Cheers... -
