That light through the lid certainly looks weird... Can't really understand why that happens, there should be some kind of opaque coat/layer between the backlight and the lid, right?
While scratches on the screen from the keyboard may happen to any notebook when pressure is applied to the top of the lid, it's definately not something that improves the overall impression of a 14,1'' laptop that's very likely to be carried around a lot.

Well I haven't been on here for the past few days and so I haven't had the chance to do a review as of yet.
Been using my Znote 6324W for the past couple of days (mostly spent installing applications that I will be needing) and I am still very impressed by it. Love the keyboard and have gotten used to the \ key being next to the space bar. I would have liked to have a volume key other than holding the Fn button + F7 8 or 9 but it's no big deal.
Screen looks good with minimal light reflection from what I've noticed. Vista has stragely large icons by default but once the icons are 'normal size' everything looks great.
The trackpad is good but it will take me some time to get used to since sometimes I start scrolling vertically or horizontally by mistake. I think I could turn off the scrolling to stop this from happening but I find it a useful feature when browsing documents.
Overall I am very happy with my purchase and would have no problems ordering from Zepto again. -

Keyboard thing can happen to any laptop. The lights coming out from behind the lid is wierd; maybe it's just a thin coat of plastic? xxxcorps, does it do the same for your 6324?

By the way xxxcorps, did you see what the 8600M GT was clocked at? I know the memory is at 400MHz (GDDR2) but what about the core?
I just read this thread where a guy with this setup:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=131334
T7300 (2.0GHz)
2GB DDR2-667
8600M GS 256MB GDDR3 (turbocache)
This guy got 3400 points with 3DMark06 1280x800 - 400 points away from the T7500, 8600M GT from Zepto's 3800 points at 1280x800. He says that the 8600M GS was underclocked to 500 MHz instead of the advertised 600MHz on nVidia's site. He also states that while OC'ing to 650/750 gave barely any increase in heat emissions. His friend had a GDDR2 version of the card and was getting 2100 points in 3DMark06 and his attempts to OC (the card was at 500/400, OC'ing the GDDR2 is useless, though I wonder about the core) it were futile because he tried 600/600.
I wonder if the 8600M GT's core with the Zepto's are underclocked too? If so there is much more potential to these cards than there seems, especially in real game world performance. -
I'll certainly check for you my friend...

Thanks a lot

Just to clear things up. 32bit can address up to 4GB. But a big chunk of it is used to address the PCI ports and things. It takes between 500 and 1gb depending on chipset. That leaves 4gb minus the part for the pci addresses for the ram so about 3gb. PAE fixes this but causes more problems. -
Man, I'm really yearning for my 6224W to arrive... I hope it comes on Friday.
-
Your absolutely 100% correct, the total addressable by 32bit OS is 4GB
and that includes all the memory the system can see...
I hope to install 64bit when the Appz & drivers are more run of the mill
the main thing is I have a 2.4Ghz dual 64bit core cpu, future ready (next year) and 4Gb sat in my plastic box (at a premiumbut thats life)

Point 6.
your not the only one: Sony and their TZ are having the same thing,
like I said in another thread, get a camera cloth... slip it in.

Hi xxxcorps,
I'm wondering about your harddrive. Was it hard to change it ? Was thinking about changing the harddrive on mine Zepto to 160gb Seagate Momentus 7200, like yours !
thx -
xxxcorps, do you think you could sum up what you're first impressions are by editing your first post and adding everything you've said so far? 7 pages of comments is quite a lot to read

Only my threads here with 'personal' in the topictitle are from my own! -
isnt this laptop a bit to fat
... something like a "pentium 4ish" thing. Is it as "fat" as the old centrino's? Because my centrino M 1,6ghz is quite thin... and has 15,4".
-
comeon, dont you think its a bit too fat for a "last gen" laptop?

All of the dimensions are available on the datasheets on the websites. If not we can provide them

Hi guys,
I´ve just finished reading the whole thread and it seems to me, well, I´m about to snatch one of these beauties. The point is I´m like a huge RPG fan, I´m addicted to playing Oblivion, NWN2 and stuff big time, so I´m somewhat worried if these would be any playable on a 6324. The thing really looks like a steal at a thousand EUR, but I´d hate to buy one just to find myself swearing like a trooper anytime I get to playing. I suppose NWN (or any other relatively old game for that matter) would be running just fine, but what about these, a touch more hardware demanding titles like Oblivion, NWN2, Dark Messiah etc? (In my books playable means at least 25-30 fps or something I guess and not a quick snapshot sequence)
I´ve been drooling over these 2x8700GT XPS monsters ever since they came out, but really, I don´t feel like squandering several thousand on a properly configured Alienware or XPS. However, I could pick, say, a G1S, actually I was just about to get one when I ran across the Zepto´s website.
I´m not hard up, but spending 50% more on something that´s almost the same (G1S is like 1500 EUR in Germany) doesn´t seem particularly reasonable. Not that I won´t if it´s worth it.
Well, thanks in advance guys, I´d really appreciate any suggestions, especially when backed up by fps data -

Hi, guys
ThanksWhat about the grainy display? I´ve read about that somewhere. Is it that annoying or it´s not a major issue? I´ve also considered buying a 6625WD, but it seems to be a touch more problematic when it comes to gaming, although I´m quite tempted indeed (better display, Core 2 Duo 4 Mb cache). Btw, what´s the difference between a ´normal´ DVD-RW and ´slot´ one?

I wouldn't call the 6x24W's display grainy although the matte anti-glare coating does cause slight reduction of image sharpness. Overall, I would rate the display as good (see my 6024W review). The problem with the matte displays is that you don't see the reflections which you don't get, so you don't notice the benefit.

Thanks
It seems I´m about to get a 6625WD after all. One more thing (ZEPTO team, you´re there?) - I´m in Germany right now, but German itself sounds all Greek to me. So, how can I order one (de.zepto.com) and get it delivered with English Vista 32-bit? -
-
well, when I got my zepto off a reseller, It said Finnish Vista Prem 32, but when I fired it up, It said chose your language (this cannot be changed later) so im on a english OS right now

What does it say on the writing on the Recovery DVD?
-
-
i also tested world in conflict, FEAR: Perseus Mandate, MOH Airborne and Unreal Turnament 3. All with over 25-30 fps on 1024+ res.
the only downside is the battery usage but i dont really use it that much without the AC -

Sprint, then it will be completely finnish if you use the Recovery DVD to reinstall from

If it's completely flawless we might be able to exchange it, otherwise no, then you need to buy a new recovery media.
