    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if the screen is glossy or matte? Also I can't find a review of it anyway! Anyone on these forums got one that could post a little review + screens?

    Cheers

thanks for the links. do you know if the nVidia Geforce Go 7600 512MB is better than the Ati x1600 256MB? Is the 512Mb in the 7600 dedicated?

    Thanks

Yes its dedicated and since the Zepto's Go is clocked higher than usual and contains more VRAM it is generally considered the better performer.

actually the go7600 in the 6214w is the fast version, the on in the 6615wd is not clocked as high, so will not be as fast (400mhz vs the 450 of the 6214w.) However the memory is slightly faster (750 agaisnt 700 on the 6214w.)

So no the 7600 in the septo 6615wd will be slower than x1600, i'm afraid.

My bad, I always thought they were the same notebook, just different chasis', I didn't see the fine adjustments. Regardless the performance is very similar and the added VRAM may prove helpful in future games.

I think thats irrelevant since it is a completely different chip with more pipelines than the geforce go7600.

If you want to read about these cards go to the GPU guide on notebookreview, or go to tomshardware and read the recently published guide on graphics cards.

alright fair enough. basically is there a big difference between the x1600 and the 7600 in the 6214w? will I notice any difference in say Half Life 2 or Prey?

There is not a big diference no, and i doubt you will notice any in real world gaming. However there is an issue with the 512MB version of the 7600 shipping with the 6214w/6615wd at the moment, which means that you get artifacts with certain games (like oblivion and bf2) - but nvidia are working on a fix, and it should be ready soon. If you want to learn more have a search for these problems on the forum. (have a look here and here to see what i mean)

Strange... on the Danish website it says 6615WD is clocked 450/700 - on the German website too. I don't think they clock the 7600 slower for you UK guys. :)

from the pics, it definitely does not look glossy at all, very matte like its 14" sibling. The design reminds me alot of the Asus Z71, anyone else think so?
