First of all, I am interested in getting a 6314w but I might wait for the newer models to arrive.
From pictures, I believe the 6314w uses the a-spec firewire (400Mbps) as it seems to use the 4pin firewire connector. Can someone confirm this? When the websites list they have firewire, they don't say whether it is 1394a or 1394b (or at least I haven't noticed it, sorry if I missed it).
And does anyone know whether or not the newer models will use the b-spec firewire (800Mbps)? If they do have it, to me it might be worth the wait then. I've seen pictures of the new model, but couldn't really see the sides and determine the type of firewire connection.
As the title implies, I plan on using the firewire connection for an external harddrive. I know that on paper USB2.0 (480Mbps) is faster, but in real tests the firewire (@400Mbps) generally does better as it has better sustained throughput. So, essentially if the newer models still use the a-spec it wouldn't really matter, but a bump to the b-spec would obviously be nice.

no replies, so I emailed Zepto to find out
I got a short reply today, the firewire is 400 Mbps.
I assume he was referring to both (new and old models). -
