It seems a lot of people have bad experiences with Zepto's warranty. But it's not all bad. Actually i just had a really pleasant experience with their costumer support.

2 weeks ago, on friday the 12th, my harddrive (approx one month old) started resetting itself when reading a specific sector. I called Zepto support and got a RMA case. They told me i could remove the drive and send it in alone. The next day they sent me a package label to return the drive free off charge. In the mean time i ran SeaTools to test the drive, and found 7 bad sectors. I called Zepto support again to ensure that those where indeed enough to get drive replaced, and they assured me it was. So, on wednesday the 17th i sent in the drive and got a brand new one yesterday, thursday the 25th.

The warranty itself is OK but the repairs have been slower than anyone would like. This has been discussed in other threads and we have been informed that there have been recent improvements to Zepto's service dept.

In your case the process could have been further improved by the courier doing a swap - giving you a new HDD in exchange for the old one. Then you wouldn't have a computer without HDD for 8 days (I understand that you changed the HDD yourself rather than send the computer in - is this correct?).

At that price, i wouldn't expect on-site service. Id prefer a discount on the price any day. And yes, i changed the drive myself. Before that, i moved my Linux installation to a USB drive and ran it from there until i got the new drive back.

My point is that people that are hesitating on choosing a Zepto shouldn't do that because of the service they offer. It's even better than the one i had on my old Toshiba Portege, which cost over twice as much. I had to send in the entire laptop, it took three weeks, and when i finally got it back, they had changed it with a lower capacity drive.

    Hi!

Basically Zepto provides 2 years of manufacturer warranty\ hardware warranty. Unless it is obviously user damage, you should get a new computer. This; is pretty damn good!! :D

In Norway there is also a consumers law stating that: after 3 repairs or a first replacement of more than 70% of the value of the computer you are entitled to get your money back. Not a single retailer will tell you this, but it is in the end your choice. This is probably different in other countries, but for some it might be worth checking.

Just been through the same thing, got a new computer back.
6 mths old and already dodgy computer that I took from Norway to Australia (got 20%tax back!). Zepto Australia has a fantastic customer service! :D

Zepto Norway's customer service I am not sure how to judge. It took 3 weeks every time to reply to emails. And, initially they did not know that they had a 2 year manufacturer warranty. Basically, every different Zepto retailer gives a different experience.

UK customers get 1 year warranty as standard on their notebooks, most European countries have 2 years but the rights of the customer are very different in each country. It would also be wrong to say "Unless it is obviously user damage, you should get a new computer" as in most case you would get a repair of your original notebook. Just to clear it up
