Will there be a Zepto netbook.. I think so..

I want this kind of specs:
    - 10" LED 720P screen (1366x768)
    - 2GB RAM
    - A 'normal' processor, instead of an Atom
    - A dedicated GPU
    - An optical drive
    - An integrated webcam-module
    - An integrated cardreader
    - An integrated HDMI-output
    - An integrated BlueTooth-module
    - An integrated HSDPA-module
    - A 2,5" HDD (so you can upgrade it)
    - Windows 7 netbook edition

    Why not?

    - Screensize is very small
    - They can use LEDs in their screens
    - A processor can clock back when it's not used
    - You can use the energy-efficient modus

Things like BlueTooth / WiFi / GPU are more energy-eating than a CPU.

You have more than enough 12" notebooks
with Core 2 Duo CPU's that work 4 hours easily =)

If it has all that, it is just an ultraportable and not a netbook.

An ultra-portable with a screen that is almost impossible to read because the pixels are too small.

It could be classified as a netbook if the price is less than €500 (which I doubt).

Because no Atom processor. DVD drive, dedicated gpu, normal processor. It is more of a CULV platform notebook (MSI X340, upcoming Dell Mini 11, Asus P30) than a netbook, meaning more power than a netbook, but not as much as a notebook.

    You have:
Netbooks with an optical drive: Asus Eee PC E1004DN
Netbooks with a dedicated GPU: Asus EEE PC N10J
Netbooks with a normal processor: Sony Vaio P

So if they can combine that all within 1 netbook, it will be great!

I see the difference being more along the lines of CPU type and price range. Hence my earlier suggestion of €500 being the deciding factor.

For example, the Zepto Notus would qualify as a netbook in terms of performance and weight, but has a pricing well above the netbook price ceiling.

Well everything EEE from ASUS are not netbooks. ASUS are planning to release loads of products under the EEE brand, also LCD TV's/Monitors.

What defines a netbook is 10/12" or less and at a price tag under €500 and with a low power CPU with adequate processing power for XP/Linux and word processing/web surfing.
If we go above that in processing power/specs we are talking about Ultra portables :)

    Doesn't matter to me...

I know that Zepto is working on a netbook / ultraportable of whatever..

And in my TopicStart is just mentioned what I want within my perfect netbook / ultraportable. That it will cost 600 or 700,- euro's doesn't matter to me.

And an Asus S101 isn't a netbook, because it costs more than 500,- euro's?
    Don't think so...

So who gives a hell how it's called? I don't!!

There also will come a 11,1" Zepto and a 13,3" one.. Specs? NO IDEA again =(
And they have presented the Znote M15a with a 15,6" screen and chiclet keyboard: http://dk.zepto.com/Shop/Config.aspx?configurationid=1030&notebookid=1445

Unfortunately they only have Scandinavian keyboards and no US-ones..
Really stupid imho because now they can't sell it in the rest of Europe / the World

What the hell =s This can't be a Zepto..
    Just 'normal' hardwarespecs, nothing interesting..

A crappy resolution, a crappy CPU, a crappy GPU, Windows XP... Tozz

    I hope the 11,1" and / or 13,3" Zepto's will be 'more' (hardware)interesting!

This is a FAIL Zepto, a big big FAIL!

Why should it be more hardware interesting in this hardware segment?
I think Zepto might have learned that putting insane specs into a machine isn't everything. They also need to have machines that keep running for more than 6 months before being dead.
Seems to me like Zepto is starting to play it safe and putting out products on the market that is less likely to fail within a short period of time. Instead of putting out a Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 250GB SSD, 9800M GTX in a 11" barebone and then it fails after 3-6 months because of overheating issues. I know the mentioned specs are not possible, but i bet you get the idea.

I would think about this 10" model as a replacement to my Notus A12 as the travel machine i have, as the 12" is sometimes just a tad too big to have with me around.

Also Zepto are considering starting up a stationary gaming PC line, which i think is even more interesting than small machine with insane specs :D

Why? Because this is just a netbook like all the other ones ==> not interesting!

Why should they have to buy this Zepto, it has nothing fancy..

It's just the same as the HP Compact / Compaq Mini 700:
only with a stupid Zepto logo on it and that's something that I don't know from Zepto..

Normally they want to be 'cool' and 'superieur' with their notebooks.. This is crap!

EDIT: And prebuilded computers are pff also crap..

Well I've asked around and lots of the people i know (in Denmark) would rather buy this Zepto 10" than a HP/Acer 10" model, because by buying the Zepto they support a Danish computer company. Also the answer time on the Danish hotline has become much better than ever, so they are not so afraid to buy from Zepto anymore because they know they can get a hold on them on the phone.

Your oppinion is that it has to outshine all the others. Most normal people will just buy what they get recommended by a sales person or from people they know, and what seem to be a good prices machine :) I know that's how I feel.
I once was also needing faster and faster stuff for less and less money, but with stuff like laptops this just don't mix. As the prices go down the quality most often goes down the drain also, if you pace the hardware to its limts. With a netbook theres a limit to what you are allowed to put in it to offer it with a Windows system, and this is what all other netbooks are also made of. Theres a limit to what Zepto are allowed to put in and that's what makes the specs of the Znote V10a :)

This is not Zepto's fault. It is because Microsoft has it limitations on the hardware (and Intel on the chipset).
MS won't sell the licenses if the MS requirements are not met. That's why all the netbooks have the same specs.

sure... you work at MS.. you know more then we do about those licenses.

Show me a netbook with better specs and the XP license. And don't come with minor things like a harddrive, because it is configurable. Come with better graphics, CPU etc.

Sometimes MS can be "flexible" with the licences :)

These will depend on companies and alliances :)

Regarding this netbook, CLB NL is right. It isn't too interesting, they will need to add a touch screen and a decent 3G slot like the OCZ that Mucro is carrying.

Also a nice 6 cell Lithium Polymer battery would be nice. Even the rubbery soft touch would make it stand out. Its an already crowded netbook market.

Yepz I work at MS, got ya :D

There are some Asus netbooks with a dedicated GO9300 GPU...
There are (many) netbooks with a widescreen 1366x768 resolution...
You have the Sony Vaio P netbooks with a Core 2 Duo CPU...
You have some Asus netbooks with optical drives in it...

And Zepto is coming with a simple 10" 1024x600 netbook with a simple Atom.

    And yeah that sucks!

Where did you read about Sony Vaio P netbooks with a Core 2 Duo?

Are you talking about the Dual core Atom Z630?
