    Hi

I am very close to buying a zepto 6615 and the only thing stopping me now is that I have read that they overheat...I think generally when playing games...can anyone confirm or deny this? Anyone who has not come across this please post as I think usually only those with bad experiences tend to respond

I use mine for gaming very often (mainly Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, sometimes Frets On Fire, BF1942-DC, Trackmania Nations, Far Cry, some others (F.E.A.R. multiplayer, CoD 1, Quake 2, Unreal Tournament 1999).
Not played or tested WoW, Oblivion, Neverwinter Nights 2, NFS-Carbon, Gothic 3, the newes Splinter Cell or Hitman, Rainbow Six: Vegas, Ghost Recon : Advanced Warfighter ...) (please don't hit me if I mentioned some console-only games, I just tried to list some recent games which I didn't play)

I had some sudden poweroffs when playing with the 6615WD in its docking station - but that could have it's reason with the docking station also, because I'm sometimes loosing connection to USB devices.
While gaming without the dockingstation I have the notebook's far side lifted on two domino stones und the left and right rubber feet, it's a habit from my old notebook's time, a Celeron366 MHz with 168MB RAM...

Last weekend we had a LAN-party from friday to sunday and I played without the dockingstation (but with the domino stones) and had no trouble at anytime.

I'm sometimes running a hardware monitoring software named NotebookHardwareControl which gave some warnings that one temperature reached 83° / 84°, but never higher.

I have my 6615WD since Ocotber so it hadn't seen a summer yet...

Gaming itself is smooth most times, but in recent games I don't use "maximum" settings while playing in native resolution where possible. BF 2142 on full large servers is sometimes laggy.

Do you want further or other information?

From what I've read it's the 6214 that people have had problems with. Mine has worked like intended though

That's the rebranded Compal HEL-80, right? It shouldn't "overheat" really, though it's true that the computer might get hot to the touch while gaming. It would probably be better not to have the computer on your lap while gaming, though some people have said that it's not too big of a deal.

The Znote 6615WD is not the HEL80. The 2425W is the HEL80.

As far as overheating is concerned--it doesn't seem to be a universal problem amongst 6615WD owners in this forum. And keep in mind that a gaming system with that kind of power will generate heat.

I'm going to merge this thread with the other one.

My 6615wd has been working fine without any heat issiues. The only problems i ever had was with a display driver under windows.

Now i run vista ultimate with all its pretty effects. WoW runs a bit slower now with max resolution and details turned on. But no heat crashes.

Ill be gaming all weekend at a small Lan party with the guys, and im counting on my 6615wd to deliver. I still love this laptop, it has replaced my stationary computer as my farvored work/gameing station.

    Cheers
