    Hi guys,

I finnally took up the experiment of installing windows 7 on my wifes znote 2415w. To my surprise it actually runs very well, and at least better than her old XP-installation (it WAS getting pretty slow).

The absolute only problem I have now is the sound. It stutters all the time as if the computer was trying to calculate the meaning of life. I have tried using the old drivers, the drivers win7 came with and the newest realtek drivers and nothing works. It would be a shame if I have to install xp again, now that win7 runs so well, but botched sound is a dealbreaker here.

Has anyone tried something similar or have a suggestion as to what the problem could be?

    1. Do you have a 2415W Vista driver? Vista drivers usually work OK with Windows 7.

    2. Have a look in Device Manager to see if, unusually, the sound device has any power management. If so, disable any power saving option.

    1. The 2415w didnt get any official vista drivers. Ive tried with the drivers windows update installs and ive tried with the newest drivers from realtek. The sound is there, but nothing helped the stuttering

    2. There isnt such an option.

I do have a few interesting observations: While playing around with the sound control i suddenly got a message that the "Phone Line" recording channel didnt work properly. I disables it and sudenly everything was fine. BUT after a restart the problem came back. Then I got the message that the microphone channel didnt work properly. I disabled that and everything was fine again. Alas, after a restart the stuttering was back and ever since I havnt been able to fix it by disabling phone line and microphone channel.

The WEIRDEST thing I have found is that when I play an mp3 in WMP it will stutter like crazy, but IF i continuously resize the player window the stuttering will stop. What I mean is if i drag the side of the window, hold down my mousebutton and move the mouse franticly about the place, there isnt any stuttering. As soon as I stop the stuttering returns....

Ive tied running with the drivers for the ATI video card (x600) that windows update installs and they work perfectly fine. Ive also tried with the official desktop legacy drivers for vista/win7 modified with mobility modder with great resul on the graphics....

but no matter what I do he sound just keeps stuttering. /cry
