Greetings... I've lately had a lot of annoying problems that has something to do with my Fn key and it really really annoys me since i have no clue about any of the Fn key shortcuts and since i use my Ctrl key to talk with in various voice chat programs i often tend to click the Fn key and some other key at the same time, then activating some sh1t that i often have to reboot my computer(if i even can) to fix it.

So my question is how to completely disable the Fn key(now i don't need to hear all the **** about disabling it is stupid, and you will need it sometime, but I've had this laptop for half a year now never experiencing anytime where i needed/wanted to use it) Or even better if i can somewhere, somehow, choose which bindings/shortcuts to disable...

other good ideas/suggestions and help is of course also welcome!

    - Reptyl :D

Pull it off the keyboard. :)
If you've been using the laptop so long, why are you still struggling to remember where the keys are. I too use the CTRL key a lot during games and I have found that I have no problem (for the first week or so I was always hitting the Fn key and wondering why it didn't work).
See what happens when you hit both the Fn and Ctrl keys at the same time. The keyboard gets confused and starts to do all sort of weird stuff. Pressing them together again seems to clear it.

Well it's nothing to do with me struggling with remembering the keyboard layout(that would be utterly retarded and lame if you ask me after using it for so long) but when the buttons are this small, and you play games like world of warcraft in hectic arena fights there pretty much is a chance that i accidently click both buttons at the same time, or in a quick try to hit the ctrl button i hit the Fn button instead, which has absolutely nothing to do with me not remembering the location of the button ._.

So as I said. Pull it off if you don't use it.

The Fn key is hard-wired and can't be disabled. There will be times when you need to use it, such as for adjusting the brightness.

Rather than pull the key off, how about folding a piece of cardboard that you can slide under the key when you don't want it to work? Even better would be a piece shaped like a 2-pronged fork. Or use an external USB keyboard which doesn't have the Fn key.

thanks for the ideas, now just a last quick question.. Where can i see all the Fn bindings for my laptop? If i could learn them, then maybe it wouldn't be much of a problem really.

You could just look at the symbols and text on the F-buttons.
F2-F10 + ScrLk. I newer uses SysRq and Break

well theres a ton more Fn bindings than just the F-butons ... and it's those i wanna know, which i thought was kinda obvious >.<'

i just really really want to know if i can get a list of the various Fn bindings that exists.. so far i learned that Fn + Ctrl is something that activates some sort of state that holds down the ctrl button or something...

To the best of my knowledge the Fn key bindings are done by the manufacturer or ODM when they write the BIOS. The Fn keys do not require any setting in windows.

I bet there is only the bindings mentioned on the keyboard on that specific model.

I would appreciate, if you could give some examples of some the ton more bindings, perhaps just a pound, as I would like to know which features I have missed out on.

However, if I press fn and ctrl sequentially, your are right, that the system then thinks ctrl is held down. Pressing the combination again cancels the state

i am going to switch the fn key with the ctrl key. a little resoldering on the keyboard will do that job. this is really stupid to place the fn key at the position where normally the ctrl sits.

Good luck. Zepto's price for replacement keyboards is quite reasonable.

Iv never had any problem with the fn key on my 6625. For me its on the right side of the ctrl key (wich is in the corner). Is it the other way on the 6224?

On the 6324 and 6224 it is first from the left. Not your usual place to put it, but I'm used to it being there now.

i am switching from desktop to notebook often, so this misplaced key will always make problems. as soon i get the price of a replacement keyboard (you never know ;) ) i'll try to hard-switch the ctrl/fn keys with some fine soldering.

I think it was something like 19€ for a new keyboard for the 6625, so I dont think they will rob you :D

I'm sure that many people will be interested in how you do this change, particularly if the fix is not exclusive to Zepto keyboards.

I have had my 6224W for over eight months now and no major problems. Everything worked fine and I played all the latest games with no heat problems. Mind you I used the RMCLock to regulate the performance so this helped. I have used the 6224W to do a lot of tasks including my first website.

    Thanks
