I heard all the rave about Voodoo PC and their customer service and systems, but the only problem is that their resources all went to the Blackbird joint project. But I called up today and asked a bunch of questions about the company and systems and they were really knowledgable and nice. I asked when they are releasing their new notebooks and he told me their NEW LINEUP is coming in 4-6 weeks!. So I'm guessing they are going to release it with the new montevina platform. I also heard they are going to make their own chasis now, so this should be an exciting summer, if Voodoo does make their own chasis and some special featires like how AW did with smart bay, then I might go with Voodoo. Remember now Voodoo is the company who invented the Liquid Cooling system, so we can hopefully expect something awesome in 4-6 weeks!
So hopefully Voodoo will stop being a rebranding company and be like alienware and come out with their own chasis, special features etc.. It is overpriced, but you get a custom paintjob, plus from what I experianced so far, awesome customer service. Heard a lot of horror stories about when things go wrong and from my own experiances from dell, alienware and gawd gateway. But my main focus is that I need awesome customer service and I guess I would feel different from everyone else with a voodoo, especially if they come out with their own chasis and special design. HP did buy Voodoo so it makes sense that they are going to make themselves different from all the other rebranding companies by doing what alienware did with their own featuers, chasis.
Also from the resellerratings.com Voodoo has the highest customer service rating at 9.52 compared to 7.19 of alienware and 7.8 from falcon northwest. So I might cancel my M15x order for now, I got a $6000 budget and I can't spend more than that, so maybe Voodoo's new lineup will not be rebranded!
But as of now I still have a M15x on order with a SSD, and I can cancel it before it ships in a week and a half. I have $6000 budget, so what do you guys think? AW or Voodoo? (given they come out with their own stuff like AW did with m15x and m17x) When I called up Voodoo they said they are releasing two models, a 15.4" and a 17" .... hehe sounds like a war for the summer. Voodoo prolly knew Montevina was coming out in the summer, so instead of upgrading their systems twice like what alienware is GOING to have to do come june, they do it all at once! What do you guys think? Alienware or Voodoo?
btw CSR said the prices will be a lot better also, but we are gonna have to just wait the 6 weeks

If you got $6000 to burn then Voodoo isn't a bad choice. I hear the paint job on the notebooks are pretty awesome, and I've been to the website sometimes to check it out. I'm pretty sure that they got a new montevina platform system coming out if they told you in 6 weeks.
-
is montevina going to have a big performance boost over current penryn cpu's? i hear everyone talking about it
-
The Montevina platform boasts mobile quad cpu's & DDR3 ram. The mobile quad's run cooler than the penryn CPU's, and faster bus speed as well.
It should help more in gaming but not a big enough boost in my opinion to get all worked up about... -
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4294 thats the interview with a personel from Voodoo. It seems this gives extra proof of the montevina notebooks + their own badass looking chasis. Just like how AW released their own chasis and features with their M15x and M17x, it seems that Voodoo is doing the same with their own new features.
And yes Montevina will be compatible and will have a FSB up too 1333 and the ram will be DDR3 with 800 mhz-1000+mhz speed and will be compatible with the future Quadcore mobile chips due out in december and also with the new 9800 gtx cards (and maybe even higher) due out in january. I'm just stoked that I'll have another company to choose from, either alienware or voodoo each with their own chasis and features. -
I can almost certainly tell you that they wont have a 15" notebook with an 8800M GTX.
-
Voodoo is going to release a 15.4" gaming notebook as part of their line up in about 6 weeks as they have stated. So it will be montevina and it will come most likely with a 8800gtx and monty chipset is compatible with the 9 series cards. 6 weeks well see a new 15.4" and 17" from Voodoo that can "compete" with alienware, and if alienware don't release a montevina version on their m15x (which I think they will) then the clevo and voodoo models will have the faster system. Anyway, either way, its good for everyone, more options and competition.
-
9 - series GPU's are also compatible with the santa rosa platform as well. So, we will definitely see an upgrade for the m15x in the future.

$6000? somthing tells me if your budget is that high for a laptop you dont even need a budget.
-
For a Voodoo you will.
-
The M15x I ordered was about $4800ish with a SSD, but for a Voodoo I would prolly spend $6000ish for a similar system, but the customer service is phenominal
-
go for voodoo if $ is not your concern
-
solid state drive is a waste of money. Wait some time...the price will drop incredibly and the space it allows will increase. The difference in speed and battery life are almost unnoticable and for over 500$ its not worth it. Honestly i would cancel and reorder and save the money for one in 6 months that will be cheaper and larger guarenteed.
-
maybe i should cancel my order on the m15x?.... because quad core and ddr3?!...and the voodoo will be able to use the 9 series? Knowing alienware, the m15x will not be able to use the 9 series....crap and the cpu we have now wont be upgradeable...i dont think this notebook will last me long, intel keeps changing the socket types
and if a newer m15x comes out that has a monty chipset, buyers remorse and a nice price tag to upgrade motherboards....
hopefully this t9300 will last me 2 years as planned, and can handle the 9 series -
HaloGod2007 why 8700m GT?
-
because i plan on upgrading the gpu when the gtx goes down or when the 9 series comes out. Its a notebook thats suppose to be for "homework" and school. So i thought id get a laptop for that and light gaming and then have a beastly desktop. Did i make a bad choice...?
-
Do you need it now? I suggest waiting for the m860tu
-
actually i think that is brilliant since you have a monster desktop already.
-

i still dont see why you would consider voodoo unless money was NO object.
-
well i hope i made the right choice on laptop and specs, even tho its not montevina
-
You figure Voodoo invented the liquid cooling system that every desktop uses now, could only imagine what type of "new technology" they are putting in this new line of computers to add to their "portfolio" as founder Rahul Sood stated. Before this news reached me, I had no choice but rely on AW because they had the system that I wanted, the M15x, but the bad part is the customer service as everyone here knows. Voodoo has a track record of not releasing systems thats not ready to be released or systems that has more bugs then they feel comfortable with.
With the released of the blackbird 002, Sood was criticized for releasing it too late. He released it after all the kinks were fixed while all the other companies sold theirs with all the problems, hence why the blackbird won so many awards.
Anyway I'm just excited about what they will unveil in a few weeks, if I was in a rush I would just buy right now but the enw semester of school starts in september so I got till august. But I'm pretty sure AW will keep the same chasis and modify it to fit the montevina, looking at the specs it looks a little smaller than the santa rosa chipset, but well see.
Alienware Vs Clevo Vs Voodoo each having their own unique features (maybe except Clevo who just has a 15.4" with a 8800 gtx without anything new compared to AW and their smart bay) who will win? -
Voodoos notebook will just be an overpriced rebranded version of the m860tu
-
The Roswell Support Staff is phenomenal, but sadly there are other, more sinister reasons why it was created...
With the drop in value of the united states dollar, outsourcing suddenly became expensive... hence, knowledgable techs at home became cheaper.
I'm not sure how Voodoo can make a sudden jump from reseller to having its own unique chassis, Alienware started out with just one new unique chassis with the m9750 (Arima W835-DI) with the previous one, m9700 (Arima W830-DA) available, although very rare, from other resellers.
So I think it'll a unique chassis for their 17inch solution, and the Clevo for the 15.4" -
@firstn20
where did you get the information that Voodoo invented liquid cooling? Do you have a proof for this? -
Actually, they did not invent liquid cooling, they were the first to implement it. They had liquid cooling, in their old Iron Chef and F-Class systems, which were released in 1994 and 1996 respectively.
Liquid cooling, and cable management, awesome tech support and a kick ass looking product is what Voodoo is all about.
