I am currently building a new laptop starting with a PBL21 base and an I7-2720QM cpu. I didn't get any documentation with the laptop other than the DVD. My problem is that I cannot get it to start. The battery charges fine and the blue led lights when I press the power button but then it goes out after about 20 seconds. I have no other events taking place. No video, no audio, no BIOS screen. The CMOS battery is plugged in and I have checked and double checked all of my connections. My impression is that there is something with the BIOS that needs to be done but without any documentation I am at a loss. This is my first laptop build but I have built desktops recently using Linux. Thanks in advance and if you have a questions don't hesitate.

Fiddling with BIOS should not be needed, in my opinion (I am not familiar with the PBL21 nor the Core I3/5/7 CPUs).

Maybe try *removing* the RAM, and start. It should beep, or do something else.

You may also plug in head phones, I know some ASUS board (Desktop) used to signal error codes not by PC beep, but by sound card !?!?!

Other than that, I cannot help. Maybe th emainboard, CPU, video card are faulty ...

    Maybe a short ... but after 20 seconds ... that's strange.

    Good luck

It sounds to me like your CPU is not installed correctly. After inserting the CPU in to the socket did you turn the screw to secure it?

Unlike desktops, this is somewhat unique to laptops.
