my ifl92 will power on but shuts off after about 3-5 seconds. since the problems started i've made it to os twice and it shut down after about 5 minutes. since then though i haven't even been able to get into bios. any internal solutions/suggestions before i have to send it off. i've done soft power reset, J5 jumper reset, tried all combinations of original ram/harddrive and power and/or battery and still no boot.![]()

Is this the result of OC?
-
no OC'ing. only "mods" are 2 sticks of ram i had and a 160 gig hd. i put in original stick of ram and original 80 gig hd and still no luck. laptop has idle/light usage temps of ~40c cpu, ~72-75c gpu, and ~35 hd. the desk i use my laptop on has a small 4 inch fan blowing on the rear left side, and that dropped my cpu temps ~3-5c and my gpu down to about ~65c, no effect on hd. heat, moisture and drops are not an issue. i don't drink, eat or poop with/anywhere close to my laptop and nobody has used it but me. i do live in an apt, so if some apt employee "tried" to use my laptop, their fingerprints would have to match one of the 6 i have registered.

Is this a legitimate SRR?
-
what's srr?
-
Santa Rosa Refresh, the SR modified to make the first JFL92.
-
99.9 percent sure. it's the sager 2092 from xoticpc.com. i have bios 1.16 factory installed. i know that the srr's still have ifl90 on them. i'm gonna email justin later and see if i can get any more info out of him.
-
Yeah, do that and let me know, I wonder how many of those SRR based on FL90 modified are out there.
-
I wonder if your motherboard hasn't failed because it doesn't boot anymore....
-
It's for sure CPU temp, this will activate the power fail safe and it will go off.
I teste my New Machine's penryn CPU in my older IFL90 and it didn't work.
Start but goes off after several seconds. -
Did you install the thermal sensor?
-
well, i sent it off. it's in sager's hands now. or will be sometime next week. thanks for the replies. i think the motherboard pooped on me.
-
I hope you took pictures
-
I wonder if I could send mine to compal to get the ic installed... But beside the reduced heat and smaller c4d rendering time I don't really think I would get any benefits from penryn... I wish nvidia would release the 9600m already.
-
I'm waiting for a higher speed Penryn and I will modify my laptop.
-
-
How fast, over 3GHz?
-
Well the new Penryn CPU with the FSB1066 will not work with the older Penryn and the Santa Rosa.
This CPU will only work with the new Montevina Chipset. -
anybody know how to get an update from sager about diagnosis process? my laptop went out monday 3day shipping so it should be in their hands now. i was wondering if there was a number to call or something. Justin?
-
Are you still waiting?
I sent mine to Hypersonic-pc and is already 6 weeks!!!! The most funny thing is that they said that there was nothing wrong and that they just need to solder the video card (which I don't understand) to the mobo!!!!! -
mwahahahah. i just got my laptop back. everything seems to be fine. i'm fixing to put my harddrive and ram in it. brb in a few minutes. buh bye.
-
Congratulations, have fun!
