This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    anyone... what LCD panel is in your averatec?

    just looked again at macbooks in a store, thinking the screens are good... shame they arent cheaper!
    oddly a cheap ADVENT (UK rebrand apparently made by twinhead, who make avertec/ philips) lcd was the next best , but these are suppose to be poor quality laptops, .... anyone know what lcd panel manufacturer avertec use,
    Like the great screen of the macbook it looked different than all the other laptops in the store, the whites didnt have a 'glare' (even in the stupid store BRIGHT lighting).... ?
    i would be really interested in knowing what LCD Panel they have fitted, PCwizard software supposedly tells you, if the monitor device properties don't say. it will probably be a manufacturer part code that you have to look up, that would be great, thanks in advance....
    (or anyone know where i can find a database of LCD panels found in laptops)

    To answer my own question :) if anyone cares
    the one i was looking at (ADVENT) was a QDS panel (which apparently is owned by AUO) i thought it looked better than the AUO panels in COMPAQs / HPs next to it...
