how does it work with an external monitor connected? that will let us know whether it's something in the display, or possibly a bad motherboard or memory. have you contacted averatec? is it under warranty?

Plug in an external monitor, then start up the laptop. If the external monitor shows the bios screen and the lappy doesn't then there's probably a screen or inverter problem.

If that's the case, good luck contacting averatec support.

so then it's probably a loose connection on your lcd inverter in the lcd case. i would reseat the cables on the lcd inverter before anything else.

There are 4 rubber pads on the front of the screen. They just pop right off with the edge of a flat head screw driver.

Using a philips take out the 4 screws holding the front screen panel in place and at the bottom of that panel you'll see a rectangular cylinder with two plugs going into it.

There's your inverter housing and one of those probably came loose.

Make sure that it's really the lcd and not the backlight. My wife's Averatec recently lost the backlight. At first we thought that it was the lcd, but by looking carefully with light reflected at just the right angle, we realized that the image was there. We had just lost the backlight.
