!!!!HELP PLEASE!!! some times, my averatec 2300 turns on, green light comes on, but screen stays black. I connected it to a monitor but there is nothing on the monitor either, put a flashlight to the screen and didn't see nothing. The only way i can bring the screen back to life is by disconnecting the battery and unplug it from the wall for about 10 min. then turn it on and there it is, everything back to normal. can somebody help me?

lots of posts on this. Please do a search.

My opinion is this model has a very poor design for cooling the graphics chip. You can also search this forum for my instructions on a simple modification to get around this issue. My Everex equivalent has been running day in day out for 2 years now.

Immediately! Make sure you are increasing airflow through the unit with a fan based cooling pad. Repeated overheating WILL kill your notebook.

Since you don't have an image in either of them it is likely that you've a faulty GPU :(

Unless you know someone extremely good at component level motherboard repair, it requires an entire motherboard replacement.

Frankly, this notebook is not worth the typical cost of a new motherboard. You might be able to find a used working version of the same notebook for less money - - then swap your hard drive and maybe RAM to be up and running almost immediately.

If you DO go this route, I strongly recommend making the cooling improvements detailed elsewhere in this forum to avoid a recurrence.

Can you tell us how you have modified your cooling system? or give a link.

What is the model name of your Everex?

    Thank you.

hmmm - obviously didn't do as I suggested and do a search... it's right there toward the upper right corner of this page....

so I did it for you....
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=394006

...a little effort would have saved you days of waiting for somebody else to do this for you. Sorry if I sound a little pissy, but come on folks, if you can't drum up the effort to do this much to help yourself, it is very doubtful that you will make the effort to actually do the recommended procedure. And then all you did was waste MY time.
