    hey guys.

anyone out there know what the motherboard for the averatec 6200 amd64 series is? after having contacted averatec, they sent me a reply that sounded suspiciously like "we don't know."

according to averatec, the chipset is an SiS 963L. my everest program (www.lavalys.com) says otherwise: SiS 760 (no model specified). the SiS website jives with this, however, as the 963L is said to be paired up with the M760 (http://www.sis.com/products/sism760.htm).

the wlan card is by ralink, and it sucks (2500)

if anyone knows any specifics on the hardware for the 6235, please let me know.

don't know why averatec has to be so clandestine about it... sheesh

I'm not sure what you plan to do with this information once you get it, as the motherboard is specifically designed for your computer, and cannot a) be used in another computer (other than an AVERATEC 6235) or b) be replaced (except by another exactly like it).

And I don't know what's going on qith yours. I thought AVERATECs used VIA or Intel components, mostly?

Who did you talk to at technical support?

Anywho most of Averatec's mother boards are hitachi/IBM. Averatec is not specific about the hard drive except that its a 2.5 IDE laptop drive. I will do some more digging and get more tech specs for ya.

SiS is just a video card not the mother board.

I do know that there is no recovery cd's for them as the recovery media is on a separate partition on the HDD.

Some of the newer model laptops are intels, however Averated favors AMD more than Intel. Most of averatec's laptops come with AMD athlon or sempron processors.

SiS also has more then just graphic card stuff, they do networking, components, and motherboard chipsets.

hey guys thanks for the help and please keep it coming...

I was just using the chipset info to try to narrow down the possible list of motherboards.

and not really looking to swap out or mess with the motherboard on this 6235. just wanted to know which manufacturer supplies this mb for this computer, in case anything does go wrong... averatec's tech support is on the weak side, pretty much all the time, especially when it comes to hardware questions.

    thanks. you guys are great!
