I have a averatec c3500, bought bytecc firewire PCMCIA card recently, XP recongize the firewire port but when I used Windows to capture DV footage from my DV camcorder, it shows funny square all around during capturing. Does anyone experience that and have solution for me.
Thanks

eyf,
I have never used firewire, sorry if I can't help further than the basic troubleshooting:
- You should update the drivers of the firewire card directly from the manufacturer, the drivers on the CD are generally already old, same with your video card and the drivers of the camcorder, if applicable
- If you camcorder supports USB give it a try
- Have you tried the camcorder on another computer? Maybe the footage is all funny from the beginning. -
Thanks for your advise! I had update Windows Xp Tablet from Microsoft to service pack 2, also updated the video card driver, but still have the same problem! I have put the firewire PCMCIA to other laptops (Dell) it work well there but not my Averatec C3500. I know some Averatec laptop don't have firewire, is someone have try to put firewire PCMCIA and is working properly. Can someone tell one what brand firewire will works for Averatec??
Thanks -
Latest update for my firewire capture problem. Recently I have ask my friend borrow a Averatec notebook with AMD processor (not a tablet notebook), and put my firewire PCMCIA card to the slot, it capture DV footage properly. So I guess it is nothing due with the AMD processor or my PCMCIA card. For after all the troubleshoot I will eliminate the cause on my card or AMD but point to the tablet notebook itself. Is anyone using any brand of tablet notebook has similar problem on PCMCIA firewire capturing.
Please advise.

I have an Averatec C3500. I tried to use a PCMCIA tv tuner card and it also did not work. C3500's must not support video through PCMCIA or something crazy like that. I recommend a USB capture device.
averatec c3500 firewire can capture DV properly
