    Hello all,

I used this forum to choose my UX, and now it appears that I need its help again. My computer is doing interesting/annoying things which lead my to believe that something is up with my processor. It works fine, but I live in fear that at anytime my system is going to die. Not exactly the peace of mind that I thought I was paying for.

    Here is the issue:

When running on AC power the computer is fine, no problems or strange sounds (just occasional fan noise or HD sounds).

When running on battery power, however, the system emits a high-ish pitch buzz that is sometimes constant and sometimes intermittent. When the computer does something (such as open a program or window) the buzzing stops momentarily and then starts up again when the system is idle. The intensity of the buzzing appears to be connected to the processor because when I used the Power4Gear to switch between modes, the buzzing ramps up in intensity and pitch when the power to the processor is increased. But when connected to AC, the sound immediately goes away.

Any ideas what the heck is going on?

I should probably mention that I have owned and used many laptops, and I know of none that make this noise.
Also of note is that I had the buzzing before I sent the laptop into P1 for repair on another issue (which required replacing the system board) and I still have the buzz. I told them about the problem when I sent it in, but they said they heard nothing. I have a sneaking suspicion that they only worked with the powered laptop while plugged into the wall, although I told them that it only occurs when running on battery.

I guess I would like to know if my system / processor is in danger of dying on me. I use / need a functioning laptop on a daily basis.

    Thanks.

Does it only happen when you?re using that headphone RCA audio adapter to hook up to your external speakers by chance?

Let?s try a couple of things, first thing to try is exit the power 4 Gear and get back to me. When you sent it in we could not duplicate the buzz you described but did not have one of those adapters handy to test, so let us know.
