i've got a new compal notebook and after only 3 charges and discharges shows me the notebook hardware control after the booting windows, that i have a battery wear level of 9%, is that normal???

After only one charges and discharges have i an wear level of 5%, before that theres 0%.

i think something is wrong with the battery.

my laptop is only 2 weeks old and the wear is 6%.

you have to remember lin-ion battery's start to loose capacity as soon as they are made.

you don't know how long they have sat in a warehouse.

    regards.

yeah but i'm afriad that the battery will be broken fast soon.... i think after 10 charges will be 30-40% wear level...

What Tinderbox says is true, the elements in a Lithium-Ion battery begin to break down as soon as they are made. Use only exacerbates this issue.

Keep in mind that the numbers you are looking at are merely estimates. NHC doesn't know exactly how long your battery will last. I have batteries in my 7+ year old notebook that still last at least 75% as long as they did when they were new (of course I haven't used that notebook much in the last 5 years). I can still get about 90 minutes out of them--and they were maybe 2 hour batteries to start with.

My advice is to not let those figures bother you. Enjoy your notebook. And when the battery seems to be running down too quickly, add a new battery to your accessory collection and keep the old one as a backup.

NHC estimates the wear of my battery 0%. Isn't that unusual either? My laptop is 4 months old.

Keep in mind that NHC doesn't know the exact specifications of every battery out there. It's merely estimating and is likely not very accurate.

NHC gets the specification by reading the microchip inside the laptop battery.

my wear level is 6%, NHC gets this by subtracting the current 100% charge level from the manufactures stated battery capacity.

I got my new batt & it's already 7% wear, i guess that is normal for all batteries no matter which company make them :)

Then I found this baby, it work wonder for me in my notebook, camera, digi-cam etc.

To give you an idea of how off it can be, my 5-month old battery is at 0% wear level according to NHC. It's been plugged in since day one.
