Hello, I'm new to the site and registered because the information I was finding about various things proved to be most useful/helpful. Sadly my first post has to do with a laptop from ibuypower.com (I heard the bad things about them to late).
This is one of their Battalion laptops, 2GB DDR400, 2.2Ghz AMD 64, ATI mobility x1600 256MB, just for a quick overview, and I just got it back (for the second time) for a hard drive failure.
They "replaced" the hard drive as far as I know, and I've updated my OS (Windows XP Professional) and was in the middle of playing a game, Lineage 2, when I started to hear 2 quick beeps from within the laptop, defiantly from the system speakers, not the two built in ones. I exited the game, ran a dxdiag and everything came up green. No programs have been effected what so ever.
This beep is, for the most part, is consecutive plus or minus a few seconds, I would say about every 3 or 4 minuets. The first beep is slightly loud immediately followed by another lower tone beep.
I restarted the computer and when it came up to the loading screen for the OS, I heard the beeps again, my Bios is AMI, and I couldn't find anything helpful in there. About 33 minuets latter the beeps stopped, so I am assuming that something was overheating. Here is the thing however, I have had this laptop for about 8 months now and this is the FIRST time I have ever heard such beeps. If the beeps merely indicate something overheating, is there any way I can turn the beeps off?

buy a laptop cooler? find a program to turn your fans on at lower temps?

which Battalion model is it exactly? Ibuypower often uses MSI, Asus and Compal whitebooks. If you tell me, then I can direct you to the specific forum where you can find more assistance. Seeing as how it is an AMD processor, its unlikely to be Compal

amd is usually a msi notebook
