I ordered my PowerPro ifl90 with Vista-Biz-64, and am now installing XP-Pro (long story omitted). Anyways, my brand-new XP-SP2b disk from NewEgg doesn't support SATA (geez, I kinda figured MS would have made this less of a pain in the rear by now), so I'm doing the nLite thingy I've seen described elsewhere on these forums...

But I'm wondering -- Bizcom's site has a whole bunch of drivers for "Compal_WINXP32 only" and "INTELWINXP32". Should I download all of them? Or just the ones that support SATA for slipstreaming purposes? And which one of those files has the SATA drivers I need?

    Sorry, but I'm clueless!

Intel or Compal are the same, the only difference is the driver support.
VBI Means Verify By Intel, otherwise supported by Intel.
Use the compal driver, these are much more up to date.

I got impatient last night, and just disabled AHCI mode, installed XP, installed all the 'Compal_WINXP32 only' IFL-90 drivers, then lastly installed newer nVidia drivers. So far, it's working great, and noticeably zippier than Vista64 ever was, 'tis a shame XP can't use the full 4GB of ram, tho!

But I still cannot boot with AHCI enabled in the BIOS -- it shows the Windows startup screen, then blue-screens after about a half of a second.

You won't be able to boot XP with AHCI enabled since your installation was done with AHCI disabled. You won't notice any difference though.

XP does not work with AHCI enabled. That is a Vista only function to support the Intel Turbo memory driver among other things.

Wrong wrong, Windows XP works with AHCI enabled, but you must enable the option in the bios and load the correc drivers for the AHCO when installing Windows.

What gets me upset is that in all these threads about the correct SATA drivers for slipstreaming with XP (for the ifl90), nobody simply answers the actual question.

    Everyone just says "disable AHCI".

This is not the answer, it is a workaround. I want to leave AHCI enabled so I don't have to mess with the bios every time i boot into Vista.

does anyone have a simple answer as to which exact driver, or group of drivers, needs to be slipstreamed? I tried using nLite to add the whole chipset driver package (xp version) to the install cd but it still didnt work.

Here is the guide for enabling ahci in xp if you want to.

    Instructions:
    1) Make sure AHCI is not enabled in your BIOS, otherwise this guide is pointless for you.
    2) Back up your Windows folder and prepare a boot disk in case this guide fails!
    3) Download 79im05ww.exe from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-62909
    4) Extract the file to "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA" (or whatever spot you want, just remeber where you put it).
    5) Open "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA\PREPARE\IMSM_PRE.inf" in Notepad.
    6) Replace any instance of DEV_27C5 with the following: DEV_2829
    7) Save the file and close Notepad.
    8) Click Start, select Run.
    9) In the Open field type "C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA\PREPARE\INSTALL.CMD" and click OK.
    10) Restart your computer, and enable AHCI on in your BIOS Setup.
    11) Start Windows XP. The Found New Hardware wizard will start automatically.
    12) If running Windows XP:

    1. Click No, not this time then click Next.
    2. Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), then click Next.
    3. Select Search for the best driver in these locations.
    4. Select Include this location in the search: and specify the path, C:\DRIVERS\WIN\SATA, and click Next.

Works like a charm on my FL90 with vista and xp dual boot

I downloaded the sata ahci drivers from intel's site, extracted the files from their EXE (open with winrar - it opens up like a archive file). Then pointed nLite to the folder I extracted the drivers to on the part where you integrate drivers.

Works perfectly. I plan on using this XP CD as my main install disc now instead of the original.

NCQ/AHCI is not a mature feature.
Even the main sponsor - Seagate, sucks the most with NCQ.

    Do you all use NCQ/AHCI?
