I just finished reassembling my model 3200 Averatec for the power plug board repair, when I found a black rubber piece about 1/4 " x 3/8" x 3" which I left out of the laptop, not knowing where it went. It runs fine now, but the fan runs constantly and the bottom gets very hot. Could the rubber piecebe involved with channeling air for cooling? Thanks, Larry

This rubber is only a spacer between your hard drive and USB board. It will keep the USB board in place . The fan runs continuously probably caused by dirty heatsink. You need to clean the heatsink by water then dry by hair dryer or using compressed air. The old thermal pad may be not good, you can discard it and using thermal silver paste to make a good contact and heat transfer from CPU to heatsink. After that, you also need to run Fan Learning in Bios to optimize the fan speed.
