Nice speakers :) Seems odd that you can change songs with the remote you have for your stereo for your laptops output. It means they're connected but obviously something hasn't been pressed.I'm guessing you've looked through the instructions that came with the bluetooth device as to how to connect it so really it leaves the laptop. I don't and have never owned a compal but maybe theres a button on it like when I use an external monitor for my laptop I have to press Fn + F2..

    G'luck :)

Have you set your BT to be recognized by other BT devices?

Also, you have the icon on the task bar setting up the wireless connection mode, WiFi only, Bt only, WiFi and BT and none of them, check them out.

If your BT in your laptop is set to be discovered and your wireless mode application in the task bar says that is set for BT and WiFi operation, then the problem might be on your Sony stereo system, check its user manual to troubleshoot it.

You might want to set your laptop in BT mode only, just in case you are suffering some kind of interference (BT and WiFi are in the same frequency band). Try it and let me know.

Just to make sure your BT transceiver is working well, do this, try to have it to communicate with your cell phone (I'm assuming that your cell phone is BT enable and equiped).

If your cell cannot be discovered by the laptop BT, then your lap BT is defected and you need to change it. It is not hard to replace it, it is actually quite simple. Now, if the lap can talk talk to the cell phone, then it is the sound system that it has a BT problem.

Check your Sound and Audio devices Property in Control Panel.
Go to Audio tab, and change your default device to Bluetooth Audio (With your Sony device name).

    See if this works.

BT is all about automatically discovering others BT devices, if the BT don't discover each other, then either one is defected.

That's good, did you check your BT profile? (the one to output sound to your sound system).
