I just sold my trusty 3 year old Averatec 4255-eh1 for $300 and got me a display model Thinkpad R61i for $399 (missing battery and books). I found the 7.2AH battery on e-bay for $67 and I am good to go. The big difference that's immediately apparent is the robust built and outstanding keyboard on this lappy. I am very happy with this very cost effective upgrade with a core 2 duo CPU + 160GB hard drive and should serve me well for the next 2-3 years.
Good luck to all of you.
    Steve :)
