hello guys,
i'd like to ask your opinion of clevo notebooks also known as prostar, sager, etc... specifically this model http://www.xtremenotebooks.coresense.com/index.php?section=specs&model_id=860
i've recently ordered one and i'm expecting it on the 28th here. i ordered the 3700+ model. maybe i should have consulted you guys here before i ordered it but i've only found this site today...
anyway, i hope to learn more about notebooks from you guys and hopefully be able to maximize the use of my forthcoming notebook.
thanks and more power to the site

that looks to me like its the Sager 8790 or a varient of it, alot of people at notebookforums.com have this notebook and they like it. its a bit heavy tho for carrying around. i was looking at them and they were too expensive for me.

I think Clevo's are great units -- The unit you are looking at is the same as the Sager NP4750 - I do not feel you could go wrong with a clevo unit. I think xtreme is a bit expensive I would have shopped arround a little Let us know when you get the unit -and let us know how you like it

+epic. makes co-workers drool w/envy. feel like i'm in the X-files
+best build quality in a notebook i've seen yet. rounded corners a bonus. should have got the subbie as the build quality can stand it.
+good for building muscle strength when carrying it around.
+best mobile screen i have ever seen. (guru-types, any tips on cleaning Superglossys?)
+Radeon rips when properly configured w/Omega drivers.
+RAID0 rocks.
-s
-somewhat noisy but what do you xpect w/4 fans.
-do not get the Mat****a 4x Multidrive, has a tough tme w/DVD-RW
-STRONG electric field generated by these muthus. i mean literally felt up to the elbows. makes me hesitant to ever put it on me actual lap as the family jewels have little desire to be cooked...
-if you have carpal, bware.
-5.1 outs are on the front, since this is my primary mobile DAW, cabling gets messy.
overall - no regrets whatsoever. (last rig - Dell Inspiron 8200, 2.2MHz, 1G ram, 1600x1200 screen)

thanks for the feedback guys, xtremenotebooks had it cheaper because they had a work-around for the california sales tax. i asked my brother there to get it and he'll be coming to the philippines where i am on the 28th. i also looked at the othe notebooks but to get the same specs, it would have cost more than 3000 US dollars. and the leiberman version of this cost like 5000 US dollars.

I have a Sager Computer a NP 4780. The model you got used the Centrino Technology which means it built with a longer battery life. The model i have is a DTR and is heavier because it has a TV tuner, card reader and a built in camera and mine has a battery life of less than half of the 3790. Mine also has a 17 inch LCD. What i've read in the Sager forums you got a good laptop.

I've purchased a Clevo unit (M375C) last week. I think the notebook is quite good (especially value for money).
It has all the features I wanted such as web cam, S/PDIF and 4 plus 1 subwoofer speakers. The weight is about 2.8 kg, and height is only 27.5 cm.
One minor problem is it has 3 fans and it could make noise if the unit gets hot.
Pricewise, it is almost 800 bucks(AUD) cheaper than Dell's insprion 8200 model.
No regret with this purchase. -

Hello to All...
I have a Clevo Prestigio 2800T, Celeron 950MHz, 384MB RAM, 40GB HDD, CD-ROM drive.
I have this problem recently. The problem is that, whenever I boot up the system, it will hang at the "AUTO DETECTING IDE DEVICES".
Has any1 of u had ever encountered this problem and how to solve it? thanks alot -
Clevo Notebooks are the most reliable well made laptops on the market. I am on my 6th upgrade and there is no comparison
I am surprised there is any competition.
Looking at the new D500E.
Bought through Sager and most recently Rock in the UK. In Australia at the moment and looking for a suppier with this model. Not proving very easy.
Any one know suppliers in Aus

I just got one from a local shop here ( www.mysterybyte.com ) My first one had 2 dead pixels in the screen, they replaced it for me within 5 days. I have had no problems with it at all. Maybe someone would know where to get upgrade parts for this, like the newer 8x dvd±r drives, or internal wireless lan capabilities? Thanks in advance

HI! I was wondering about the Clevo 410S, I saw one for sale for a good price, but I don't know much about their relyability ....
-
Any fellow Autralians know about the reputability of ITBOX in Sydney? They have an e-bay store and do some frankly criminal price slashing on clevo and ASUS.
